RM confirms Islington BSF ICT Contract

RM confirms that it has reached contractual close for a £6m contract to provide managed ICT services to Islington Council's BSF (Building Schools for Future) programme. RM will work as part of the Transform Schools consortium, with Balfour Beatty, to deliver these services. RM announced that it had been selected as preferred bidder for Islington's BSF programme on 31 May 2007.

Commenting on the Islington BSF ICT contract, Terry Sweeney, CEO Designate of RM, said:

'ICT is an increasingly important part of education in the 21st Century. We look forward to working with our Transform Schools partners - and with teachers across Islington - to provide inspiring new environments for the Borough's learners.

'RM is establishing a very strong position as an ICT provider to the BSF programme, with 11 local authorities so far choosing us as their partner. Islington is the first BSF project we have closed since I was appointed CEO Designate. I want to reinforce RM's - and my - commitment to this important programme.'

BSF (Building Schools for the Future) is the largest single schools capital investment programme for over 50 years. It aims to rebuild or renew every one of England's 3,500 state secondary schools during the lifetime of the programme. A key part of the initiative is to ensure that local authorities develop a sustainable, area-wide ICT strategy for schools in line with the Government's personalised learning agenda: 10% of the funding is ring-fenced for ICT.
