Redline's RedMAX products chosen by Divona Telecom for WiMAX network in Tunisia
-- Major African WiMAX and satellite telecom operator deploys Redline's WiMAX Forum Certified(TM) RedMAX(TM) products for a five-city wireless broadband network --
TORONTO, Jan. 10 /CNW/ - Redline Communications Group Inc. , a leading provider of standards-based WiMAX and broadband wireless infrastructure products, today announced that Divona Telecom, a leading satellite and WiMAX telecom operator in Tunisia, has chosen Redline's WiMAX Forum Certified(TM) RedMAX(TM) products for its five-city WiMAX network.
Redline's high capacity RedMAX(TM) AN100U base stations and indoor and outdoor subscriber units were chosen after an extensive three-month trial period that involved several WiMAX vendors. The US$1 million network buildout will take place in several phases over the next two years, and will connect five major cities in Tunisia, including Tunis, Nabeul, Souse, Monastir and Sfax. Divona Telecom is already serving several hundred corporations on its WiMAX network.
"Divona is the broadband business partner of choice in Tunisia", said M. Mohamed Garbouj, General Manager, Divona Telecom. "Our premier business partners depend on us to deliver reliable, high-speed, uninterruptable fixed and nomadic voice, video and data services throughout this region, and our existing infrastructure - a combination of VSAT and incumbent operator copper lines - prevented us from meeting this mandate."
Mr. Garbouj continued, "By deploying Redline's WiMAX Forum Certified solutions, we've taken active measures to increase our network's capacity, features and reliability. To date, we have several hundred WiMAX customers, and plan to double our subscriber base every quarter for the next four years, exceeding our four-year ROI goal."
"Redline is recognized worldwide as a leader in WiMAX technology and deployments, with well over 130 trials and 44 revenue-generating commercial deployments," said Majed Sifri, Chief Executive Officer, Redline Communications. "Redline is also leading the industry in the development and deployment of open WiMAX systems that enable operators to easily incorporate RedMAX with their existing networks or to establish new carrier-class networks that will enable them to easily expand their services and networks over time."
Divona Telecom is the latest example of a major carrier in a key emerging market that has advanced from a comprehensive trial of WiMAX systems to a commercial, revenue generating network using Redline's RedMAX products.
Redline's RedMAX(TM) Family
Redline's RedMAX family of WiMAX solutions includes the world's first complete system to receive the WiMAX Forum Certified(TM) mark for conformance to the WiMAX standards for performance and interoperability. Redline's carrier-class RedMAX Base Station (AN-100U) supports voice, video, and prioritized data traffic, enabling long-range, high-capacity wireless broadband networks. Redline's WiMAX products also include the RedMAX Indoor Subscriber Unit (SU-I) and Outdoor Subscriber Unit (SU-O) designed for enterprise and residential services. The RedMAX Management Suite enables operators to monitor and control the network, ensuring high service availability. Redline is maintaining its WiMAX leadership with the expansion of its RedMAX family to include products for additional frequency bands, applications and standards.
RedMAX 4C Mobile WiMAX Platform
The RedMAX 4C is the latest addition to Redline's family of WiMAX products. Operating in the 2.5 GHz and 3.5 GHz spectrum bands, RedMAX 4C is designed to conform to the requirements for 802.16e Certification Wave 2, which is the WiMAX Forum's official certification program for Mobile WiMAX. Supporting a high concentration of subscribers, it enables operators to realize a rapid return on their WiMAX investment, with a low total cost of ownership. The RedMAX 4C includes a modular, standardized (micro)TCA (micro Telecommunications Computing Architecture) chassis base station that is small, lightweight and easy to deploy. RedMAX 4C will also include a suite of indoor and outdoor fixed and portable end-user devices including laptops, mobile handsets and PDAs.
