Plant Impact unveils positive PiNT technology study results - fuelling scope for sales expansion in buoyant market

PiNT+potassium trials conducted by the renowned USDA Agricultural Research Service reveal significant increases to plant quality

Plant Impact Plc ("Plant Impact") (AIM: PIM), the developer of pioneering technologies to improve crop productivity, today announces positive findings from studies conducted by the US Department of Agriculture ("USDA") into the effectiveness of its yield-maximising PiNT technology at improving plant quality at different nitrogen rates. The accredited trials were conducted by the USDA's Agricultural Research Service and the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences, Pennsylvania State University.

Plant Impact's PiNT technology addresses growing market demand in the United States for the development of alternative solutions to control nitrate leaching.

The studies, which compared Plant Impact's PiNT+K technology with the effects of a Nitrogen:Potassium analogue fertiliser on creeping bentgrass, focused on quality, growth habit and environmental benefits. PiNT+K is a uniquely controlled uptake nitrogen/potassium fertiliser formulated to support plant quality, yield, root promotion and stress tolerance.

The findings of the studies recorded quality of colouring improvement levels 2% to 3% higher for PiNT+K than those treated with analogue fertilisers, whilst a dark green colour index recorded a 4% to 7% comparative increase. Furthermore, PiNT+K provided an equally healthy sward for at least 6 weeks when used at half the rate of the traditional nitrogen fertiliser.

In addition, Plant Impact's PiNT+K technology resulted in less above ground growth, serving to better maintain healthy bentgrass sports turf. Studies have shown that, with reduced growth habit, mowing requirements are made less frequent, lowering the consequent energy input consumed during turf maintenance. Moreover, reduced nitrogen application cuts down the level of nitrogen required to grow strong, healthy turf whilst impacting significantly on levels of nitrogen available to leach into the environment.

Peter Blezard, CEO of Plant Impact, commented: "We are pleased at the outcome of the USDA study results as they clearly demonstrate that our PiNT technology improves both the quality and the growth habit of plants whilst at the same time dramatically reducing the impact to the environment. We are committed to improving crop productivity through our technology portfolio and these specific outcomes recorded for PiNT+K mark a further step forward in that goal for the agricultural sector whilst enabling us to further penetrate a lucrative market."

About Plant Impact plc

Plant Impact addresses the increasing global demand for effective, sustainable and ecologically-sound products to combat environmental plant stress and improve crop productivity. Common environmental plant stresses include drought, salinity, nutrient deficiencies, pests and disease. Plant Impact's advances produce practical results that reduce inputs and benefit the whole of the agricultural value chain, providing solutions for growers, food manufacturers and consumers.

A broad product portfolio has been developed using these innovative and proprietary technologies, the most advanced of which are already being marketed and sold through established agricultural distribution networks. Products for the home and garden market are also distributed direct to consumers through reputable high street stores.

About PiNT

PiNT technology is a yield maximiser. It is a unique controlled Nitrogen release technology that promotes improved growth habit and vigour. It slows the natural breakdown of desirable amine and ammonium nitrogen to undesirable nitrate and minimizes leaching. In addition, PiNT technology unlocks trace elements around the roots, even in calcareous or high pH soils making them ready for efficient uptake by the plant. This results in a 'no-cost' nutrient supply, improved quality and yield, reduced pesticide/fertilizer input, lower cost and increased profit. The principle products are PiNT Calcium and PiNT Potassium.
