Phoenix Chairman, Henry Staunton, to retire
Phoenix Group Holdings ("Phoenix") announces that Henry Staunton has informed the Board that he does not wish to seek a further three year term when his current term completes on 31 August 2018. The Chairman will however remain in office until his successor has been found, if not before 31 August 2018.
Ian Cormack, Senior Independent Director of Phoenix, said:
"The Board would like to thank Henry for his outstanding contribution to Phoenix. The Board has benefitted from his significant expertise and judgement during a time of immense growth. With his considerable support, the Group successfully completed the acquisitions of Axa Wealth and then Abbey Life in 2016 and earlier this year we announced the acquisition of Standard Life Assurance which we expect to complete later this year. On behalf of the whole Board, I wish Henry every success."
Henry Staunton, Chairman of Phoenix, said:
"I have hugely enjoyed my time at Phoenix and I leave it a stronger and financially more resilient business, with its market capital more than double from the start of my tenure should the Standard Life acquisition complete. Phoenix's financial success, geographic expansion and management ambitions are at a higher level than they have ever been. I would like to thank the Board and all my colleagues at Phoenix for their support; and wish them all the best in their future endeavours."
