Appointment of Chairman

Premier Foods plc is pleased to announce the appointment of Ronnie Bell, the former President of Kraft Foods Europe, as non-executive Chairman of the Company with effect from 1 October 2010.

Ronnie spent a 30 year career with Kraft, the world's second largest food company. During this time he held a number of senior management appointments culminating in his appointment as President of Kraft Foods Europe, a position he held for five years. In this role he was responsible for all the Group's coffee, chocolate and grocery brands in the region. Full details of Ronnie's other non-executive directorships are given below.

In addition, Charles Miller Smith has been appointed non-executive Deputy Chairman also with effect from 1 October 2010.

As announced in February, David Kappler will step down as Chairman and as a non-executive director following Ronnie's appointment.

Ronnie Bell, aged 60, is currently non-executive Chairman of Milk Link, a leading UK integrated dairy business, a non-executive director of Ansell Ltd, an international healthcare group which is listed on the Australian Stock Exchange and The Edrington Group, a major private group in the Scotch whisky industry. Ronnie has been a non-executive director of Northern Foods plc since 2005 but has stepped down from this role in order to take up his appointment as Chairman of Premier Foods. He was also a non-executive director of Gallaher Group plc between 2004 and 2007.
