Contract award
Petards, the AIM quoted developer of advanced security and surveillance systems, announces that it has secured an order to supply Automatic Number Plate Recognition ("ANPR") cameras to be fitted on a new fleet of traffic cars for one of the Gulf State police forces.
The order, which is worth over Β£0.5m, will result in each of the new cars having Petards Hawk Plus 2i and Mini HawkΒ 2iΒ cameras integrated into the light bars providing a 360Β° reading capability which will automatically read passingΒ number plates,Β alerting police officers of any illegal, stolen or wanted vehicles.
Deliveries of the cameras are expected to commence towards the end of this year and be completed early in 2010.
The high recognition rates and reliability of Petards' cameras are major factors in customers' selection process and this has resulted in them being fitted extensively both in theΒ UKΒ and internationally.
Petards Chief Executive Bill Conn said "Gaining this order is excellent newsΒ forΒ Petards andΒ demonstrates the growingΒ international reputationΒ ofΒ our ANPR cameras. While historically theΒ UKΒ has led the way in ANPR technology,Β customers in other markets areΒ rapidlyΒ coming to understandΒ the benefits of these advanced surveillance systems. During 2009 weΒ have beenΒ seeing aΒ growth in opportunities overseas andΒ weΒ expect this to developΒ furtherΒ in the coming years."
