APPOINTMENT OF NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Marshalls plc announces the appointment of Tim Pile as a Non-Executive Director, to take effect on 5 October 2010. This announcement includes the information required by Listing Rules 9.6.11 to 9.6.13.

Tim Pile is the Chief Executive of Cogent Elliot, the independent advertising agency. He was formerly CEO of Sainsbury's Bank and has held a number of senior roles in the Financial Services and Marketing Communications industries. He is involved with numerous marketing bodies and business schools, and brings experience across a wide range of markets and market disciplines.

Bill Husselby, who has served on the Board since 2007, will be retiring as a Non-Executive Director on 5 October 2010. It is expected that Tim Pile will succeed Bill Husselby as a member of the Remuneration, Nomination and Audit Committees of the Board.
