Interim Management Statement

This statement is issued in accordance with the requirements of the Disclosure and Transparency Rules and relates to the period from 1 July 2008 to date. 

Sales in the nine months to 30 September 2008 were marginally ahead of the equivalent period last year, however profits continue to be lower in both the Packaging and Tobacco Machinery divisions. Overall, the Scientific Services division has continued to perform ahead of last year and in accordance with expectations.

Despite the deteriorating economic conditions, the Group still expects to produce a much stronger second half of the year than first half, but underlying performance is unlikely to reach the levels of last year. 

The financial position of the Group is broadly comparable with that at 30 June 2008.  

The relevant planning authority has now recommended that planning consent be given in respect of the prospective development of the Company's site at Saunderton, subject to formal agreement of terms. e-shelter facility services GmbH has until 18 December 2008 to exercise its option to purchase the site.
