Update

The Gym Group plc ("Gym" or the "Company") confirms that as of 10pm on Friday 20 March all 179 of its sites were closed following Her Majesty's Government's announcement earlier that evening.

Richard Darwin, Chief Executive, said:

"In our Preliminary Results announcement on Thursday 19 March, we referenced that we anticipated significant disruption and had in hand contingency plans. These included the closure of the whole estate and we have now actioned those plans.

We have been overwhelmed by the kind messages and support from our members since the closure announcement and we look forward to welcoming them back to The Gym when we reopen. 

We very much welcome the Government's exceptional level of support for business in these extraordinary times and are reviewing the details of the various schemes to understand and quantify the benefit to our business. We are continuing our discussions with our key stakeholders and will make further announcements as appropriate."
