Board Restructure

Empyrean Energy plc ("Empyrean" or the "Company"), the oil and gas development company with interests in China, Indonesia and the United States, advises that Dr Patrick Cross has stepped down as Non-Executive Chairman of the Company, effective immediately. Existing Non-Executive Director Mr John (Spencer) Laycock has assumed the position of Non-Executive Chairman.

Dr Cross will remain on the Board as a Non-Executive Director.

Empyrean CEO, Tom Kelly, stated:

"On behalf of the board of Empyrean, I would like to express our deep gratitude to Dr Patrick Cross for serving as our Chairman over the past 20 years. Dr Cross has been Chairman of Empyrean prior to our inclusion on LSE AIM and has been a dedicated and loyal contributor to the Company and the board of directors. On a personal note, I would like to thank Patrick for all of his invaluable contributions over the time he has assisted Empyrean and especially for his friendship that I cherish and I know the rest of the team at Empyrean are grateful for. Despite the reduced responsibility, we sincerely hope that Dr Cross will continue on as a valued member of the Empyrean team.
