16 Nov 2006 07:42

CAP-XX Limited16 November 2006 CAP-XX AGM statement London - November 16, 2006 - Michael Quinn, Chairman of CAP-XX Limited, theglobal leader in thin-form supercapacitors for mobile devices today announced atits AGM the following update on trading: "Since releasing our maiden annual results as a publicly listed company inApril, I am delighted to be able to report that current trading has continued toexceed the expectations set at the time of our admission to AIM. Demand forsupercapacitors from exisiting customers for wireless applications continue toadvance strongly, whilst we have also been approached by a world leading lockmanufacturer; a leading handheld, mobile, email device manufacturer; and avehicle tracking systems manufacturer to integrate our supercapacitor into theirrespective products. We continue to see opportunities we did not anticipate atthe time of the IPO. "Our negotiations with the world's leading mobile phone handset producerscontinue to advance in a very satisfactory manner. Work continues on theintegration of our supercapacitor into power management systems and your boardis increasingly confident that these developments will result in the adoption ofCAP-XX supercapacitors by a leading handset manufacturer by mid 2007 aspreviously anticipated. "We are also delighted to announce the appointment of Jon Edwards as Europeansales and business development manager. Mr. Edwards, who has more than ten yearsof experience selling high-value, complex components into the mobile handsetindustry, will be based in the UK. Mr.Edwards joins CAP-XX from Sony SES where he was responsible for sales ofcamera modules into strategic mobile phone accounts. He was responsible for keydesign wins with top tier players in the mobile handset industry and formanaging customer relationships from concept through to high volumemanufacture." For further information contact: Anthony Kongats, Chief Executive Officer Telephone 020 7554 1400 Gavin Anderson & CoRobert Speed/ Deborah Walter Telephone 020 7554 1400 Notes to editors: Jon Edwards Prior to joining Sony, Mr. Edwards worked as a sales manager withSTMicroelectronics and as an applications engineer with CMOS-camera-sensorpioneer VLSI Vision Limited. He holds an honours degree in Electrical andElectronic Engineering from Edinburgh University. At CAP-XX, Mr. Edwards will cover key European accounts such as SonyEricsson,Nokia and BenQ Siemens, and will assist with sales and support to mobile handsetmanufacturers worldwide. A supercapacitor's role in a mobile phone: Thin enough to fit into a mobile phone without design modifications, a CAP-XXsupercapacitor provides the power bursts to drive multiple peak power events -voice and data transmission, digital photos and video, GPS readings - thenrecharges in between from a battery. The result is better: • Photos - more powerful flash • Phone performance - longer talk time, fewer drop outs • Battery life - longer life and longer run times • Audio quality - better bass quality and less background crackle "The power demands placed on a battery today are enormous, as consumers continueto push for smaller, lighter devices that offer more functionality," explainedKongats. "CAP-XX supercapacitors resolve the power and performance limitationsof batteries, bridging the gap between the power demanded by the device, and thepower available from the battery."
