Statement regarding Farm-in

Further to a presentation made by Nafta Industrija Srbije AD ('NIS'), the Serbian oil and gas company controlled by OAO Gazprom Neft, at their investor day on Monday 17 December 2012, Ascent, the AIM listed European oil and gas production and exploration company, confirms that the information presented was not true in relation to a farm-in having been signed between Ascent and NIS. Negotiations are still continuing but no agreement has been made. At this point there can be no guarantee an agreement will be reached. The Company will make any further announcement, if appropriate, in due course.
