Operations
USΒ Drilling: The GU-38 wellΒ atΒ South Weslaco,Β HidalgoΒ County,Β TexasΒ reached its target depth of 3,350 metres in January with logs indicatingΒ several potentially gas-bearing zones. The well awaits fracture treatment inΒ the deeper zonesΒ and completion for commercial production. Aminex has a 25% working interest in this well.
TanzaniaΒ Drilling: TheΒ Kiliwani-1 exploration well atΒ the offshore Nyuni licence encountered gas shows but was plugged and abandoned as non-commercialΒ inΒ February. The drilling rig then moved to Kiliwani NorthΒ where itΒ drilled Kiliwani North-1 ("KN-1"). InΒ March KN-1 wasΒ completedΒ as a gas discovery,Β having encountered a gross 60 metreΒ gas column from which gas samples were recovered. KN-1 will be subjected to a full well test in the near future whenΒ appropriate equipment has been mobilisedΒ from theΒ Middle East.Β Β Further appraisal drilling will be requiredΒ at KN-1 in due course. Aminex has 40% of the Nyuni licence.Β
EgyptΒ Drilling: AtΒ West esh el Mellahah Block 2Β ("WEEM-2")Β in theΒ onshoreΒ Gulf of SuezΒ region, the first wellΒ in a minimum three-well programme,Β Malak -1,Β was drilledΒ to a depth of 3,800 metres. Strong indications of hydrocarbons were encountered but not found to be commercial. The well hasΒ nowΒ been suspended and the rig is currently drilling ahead on the nearby NW Tanan prospect, to a target depth of approximately 2,600 metres.Β Β Aminex has 10% of WEEM-2 and its share of costs is carried by other partners through to first commercial production.
