Bozi - the same has happened over in GGP would you believe. There, however, the existing CEO saw the light, realised his baby was becoming too big to handle and so handed over to an M and A guy. It was well handled and they were transparent to the market...Stock held up. Everyone was +ve about it, even though the outgoing CEO was heralded as a God! The market saw this as the right move.
We have to hope the market feel the same about Solg. And to be fair....many on here have witnessed months of uncertainty @ Solg...and the Market desn't like uncertainty.
IF, Solg come clean and "big" this up....we can weather this.
It all depends on whether NM kicks off and causes collateral damage or not.

Bozi - that is why (because of his substantial holdings), NM will be offered a NED post.
Watch this space.

I hope he accepts sooner rather than later. If they don't have anyone earmarked it will take a month or two to find someone and then say a 3 month handover.....so summer is possible.
If however someone from within takes the reins...March maybe.
Market need assurances and pronto before they back the SP.

The majors have stirred. Behind the scenes activities (since the AGM) have convinced the BoD that Solg has stalled. The deadline for the latest FNV cash injection passed on the 11th without a whisper. Why? Because the majors have objected to it vehemently. They have started negotiations for a JV (IMO) to enable the above statement (continuing to de-risk Alpala).
As TBTT stated the SP might well dip next week as the market soaks up what just happened.
But short term the stock will rally and move north as we watch the new CEO ramp Solg up and prepare it for a JV or a sale.
All that remains to be seen, now is whether NM resigns from Solg in its entirety, is offered a NED position or is pushed out the door.
This is a +ve move and we should embrace it.
Time is more important than money.

Quady - I'll break this gently to you. IF, I repeat IF there was no truth to this 'rumour', Solg would move to kill it dead immediately...simply to steady the horses.

NM left that AGM, a dead man walking. Several including me, have said this on here.
To others who worship(ped) the ground NM walked on.......I understand why.
But the company has or is on the verge of becoming a goliath in the industry and NM, alas, is a dinosaur. He has done well to get the company this far.
We now need a M and A specialist as the CEO, of what could become a future BHP.
Thank you Nick for your endeavours - genuinely. Time now, to move on.
A new era is dawning, a "new" management is forming.
The new encumbent will move quickly and make up for lost time.
We will now JV or sell - and it will be this year.

Ahhhh - the colour green. The infestor is moving across the board @ LSE. The message is however getting thru slowly - filter the TWUNT and the problem goes away. Each evening, this should become a ritual and we can all carry on business as usual.
