Life is too short to pontificate about the personality of a CEO and the merits he is supposed to bring to market.
I suspect NM will 'engineer' this sideways move to his advantage...to save face.
He will suggest it is his idea and in the interests of the future development of Cascabel, the company needs a different type of CEO. It does of course. It needs a dynamic M and A maestro who will JV the living daylights out of Solg, bring us a mining design that works first time around and last but certainly not least....bring the dosh to pay for it all.
Markets will fall back in love with Solg and Nm will ride off into the sunset as the proclaimed hero (even though he had his strings pulled all along by the ugly sisters (NCM/BHP).
The company is in such a state of disrepair.........it needs a major rebuild from the top down......unfortunately it's happening the other way round @ Solg....the bottom up.

I've touched on this before but as expected, it flew under the radar. More knowledgeable individuals like Speedy et al have mentioned it too...but yet again, it has barely been scratched upon.
There are TWO fundamental reasons for paying attention to the PoG, for all LTH's of GGP:
1. The PoG has a massive impact on the SP.
2. Physical Gold could and should form a part of your armoury as and when you start reaping the benefits of your shareholding in GGP.
The first point is self explanatory.

Once you have listened to just these two...you're future financial planning will take on a completely different perspective.
Where exactly are you going to stash your (FIAT) money?
There is going to be a re-rate of the financial markets. Could be next month, could be in 5 years time. When it happens, it will start from an innocuous source and will develop rapidly (akin to the domino effect). Individuals should consider their financial planning as a part of their due diligence, if they wish to protect themselves from the full effects of what will eventually come about.
The world cannot continue to print money without any recourse or responsibility. $4 Trillion has/will be injected into the global economy by the end of next week! It will damage paper money beyond recognition.
And if all or most of your hard earned profits from GGP are held as paper money/funds/bonds/savings/investments...you will experience the full force of the fall out from this correction.
There are only three current defences to consider, the first has already failed:
1. Inflation.
2. Assets.
3. Gold.

I think, in the real world, matters have been much more civil behind the scenes.
NM is busy formulating the CFP and realises the journey to production could be a bumpy one. He has already upset his admin manager who left suddenly last year, followed by the CFO a few months later. Liam Twigger the chairman looked decidedly impatient with NM during the AGM. BHP/NCM/CCP don't get along with him.
All in all, NM has reached a nadir in his grand plan and needed a way out. The majors, the BoD and Nm have come together to work out the solution and this involves punching thru the stalemate they find themselves in, by agreeing to a CFP that will take Alpala to production.
In return, NM might consider standing down operationally but staying @ Solg as a figurehead.
If this is even remotely true/possible, then the SP will fly.
But if NM is still allowed to get directly involved in taking this to production on his own, the time line will drag on and the markets will lose interest...the SP will tank.
This really is the best news we have received from Solg (indirectly), for ages.
My hope now is that the BoD produce a RNS, putting a +ve spin on it and pave the way to production without further ado.
A JV with BHP/NCM and Solg would seem the best option now.
Let's hope Solg rise to the occasion and produce the necessary RNS.
[If they flatly deny this rumour - I fear for the SP for months and months to come].

Droverman - you are missing one quintessential issue here - Western governments are slugging gold prices. It is inevitable that the PoG will eventually find much greater heights because the pressure is on governments to control this vicious cycle and they are finding it harder to control it.

Bozi - Having just watched exactly the same happen over on GGP - the markets love certaintly...if they see a comprehensive CFP and a construction plan (FS) both backed by the BEST in the game....the markets will pour into this stock.
TMT and schlem...I'm with you on this.
* I also believe there 'may' be a place for NM (if he so chooses) - chairman of solg. A harmless but poignant post for all his efforts....and the Ecuadorian government may warm to this too.

Shorn - PoG can only go one way. Since FIAT money was introduced in 1971 by Nixon, paper money has become more and more useless. Last month, Trump released $1.5 trillion dollars into the blood stream of global ecnomies and now this week Biden does even more! The flight from money continues and the rise in the PoG is inevitable.

Morning Bozi.
As in all shares, there are hardcore followers who attach themselves emotionally to the stock for all the wrong reasons. I could drone on, but you see where I am coming from.
This is stocks and shares land, 'most' (if not all) should be here to make money - surely? Why does one invest a portion of their hard earned cash into an unknown entity in the stock market for reasons other other than trying to profit? They don't.
We are not philanthropists, or contributing to a charity are we?
Why then does one get so attached to a company dream or a leaders ambition other than to prop up their desire to make money?
I bought this stock to make a buck and move on. Since then it has lost its way, meandering through the ecuadorian jungle with no sense of urgency to achieve the aim...that of mining the copper/gold.
There are some on here who bought into the Cascabel story, the workers, the environment, the prospects, the dream.......and lost the plot.
Hopefully, someone will now take charge and refocus. Drill and mine the damn stuff pronto.
If this elevates the SP to a decent return in short order...that is job done for me.
If others want to be part of the "journey" then that's fine too. Sit back and watch slow TV for the next 5,6,7 years and reap the massive benefits that await you.
But as I have always said......time is more precious than money.
I don't need £3, £5, £10 per share in 2027. Too much could happen between now and then.
I see this as a great burden removed from Solg, the brakes are off.........
