There's something in the AIr with Solg lately...I am going with what the Colonel mentioned.... a new leader being transparent with what we have and what they plan to do with it.
I look back now at what NM used to speak about...and he kept a lot close to his chest, which...in hindsight....was the wrong thing to do.
KM did more for Solg last night than NM has done for years!

Shame he doesn't want the top job eh?

Red - I think you have hit the nail on the head here. Porvenir has mineralisation on the surface at very economical grades indeed. KM stated it would be an open pit. Now it doesn't take a rocket scientist to confirm that the time line for an open pit is 2 to 3 times faster than a Block Cave. Theoretically, porvenir could be in production by 2024 at the latest (I said production not construction). Provided all the ducks are lined up (from permits/locals/government approval/infrastructure), Porvenir could be the means to an end for financing Cascabel.
The more I think about what KM said last night, the more exciting and numerous the options become for Solg/Cu!

Quades: You need to accept now - the new production date for the mine and also the fact that Solg is now a target for acquisition, surely??

Just listened to the presentation - what a breath of fresh air KM is.
Salient points:
Alpala expected to become one of the biggest block caving mines in the world.
Nearest port is 180Km and they plan to build a pipeline all the way.
Huge advantage with Alpala's location.
85% recovery. Clean concentrate.
Smelter interest around the world. Gold remains within concentrate and separated by smelters (not on site).
Strategic partners being courted for regional targets because Solg isn't capable of doing it alone on all of them.
Porvenir MRE in next 2 to 3 months. Open pit potential (0.5 to 0.75% Cu at surface).
Good relationship with local, regional and national levels.
"We are and will become an Ecuadorian company".
KM would like to take up a NED technical role.
Lasso win is a positive for the project.
No JV talks between NCM / BHP currently. Talk to them often - for advice and help.
Looking at financing for remainder of this year.
Smelters/offtakes is where the money will come from. (Independent Financing Plan)
New mine plan will knock atleast 2 years off original plan.
"When do you expect production @ Cascabel?": 2028.
DFS will take a year. (Not clarified when the year starts).

In response to others - SD will JV with whoever, whenever...all "day" long - to get the job done. He will also sell off some tenements if it suits his needs. Hav may well provide a royalty stream for bigger and better things.
What SD/GGP will NOT do is turn themselves into a Rio/NCM/BHP.

Only majors are miners!
GGP will not be miners in the true sense of the word. They will not get their hands dirty, they will remain a small compact outfit that explores and discovers.
What GGP have and will do, is JV or sell out. They will sell some or all of their Paterson tenements, and or continue with the JV (if permitted by the major) to access royalties etc.
SD is an M&A operator, the clue is in the name!

Hydrogen - been in AIM for blo ody ages and I struggle to believe regulators haven't got to grips with these 'shenanigans'.
I consider them, (therefore)...myths. Yes there is some fiddling around the edges where operators stay just under the radar, but large scale schemes like the ones you are talking about, across 850 companies on AIM alone would:
(a) make billionaires out of dozens of operators
and
(b) attract the attention of the authoritiews by now.
Neither has happened.
Bablake - your supposition seems more plausible - can't see much in there which is illegal...unethical, yes but not a law breaker.
Mind you...we are in the wild west here on AIM, so thruth may be stranger than fiction.........

The bottom line:
no-one can change the laws of physics. Solid fundamentals (like GGP's), always rewards the brave.
