Alright should have read the RNS. C22 was drilled in 1986 (atleast its not 1968), it flowed at 700 bod and then clogged up. When was C37 drilled ?

C37 etc were drilled in 1998 or thereabouts ( post Soviet) and with better geo sensing instruments . Their historical data should be good. Where does it say it flowed at 700 bod?

Ezhik thats a fair comment and I accept that . Its embarking on an operation that you cant really control. Its possible to destroy the well, But this could have been said in an RNS

OK I accept that he has oil experts working for him . What's missing in the interview is the fluency of the oil expert, who has the whole thing mapped out in his (or her, there are some women there) head. All he could repeat was we had done a geological study. He would sound like me ;)

He said that ZEN has changed from a workover company to a drilling company. But there are still 10 wells to work over, starting with the newest (i.e. C37,C26...……) . Does that mean Z21 /28 are like 9 and 10 on this list? Probably

wasn't the plan for the Z21 /28 was to drill a few hundred metres deeper? Its not all sandy, at the cretaceous zone I beleive the geology changes. Or is the well integrity itself suspect?

I think if AC was an oilman, he could anwser these questions

with regard to past mistakes he said that working over Soviet era oil wells was a bad idea. Everything about was misleading, and they wasted a lot of time

Zak Mir said they were undercapitalised, but then you can waste a lot of money as well if you have the wrong strategy. So who is to say what is correct but thats the past. AC mentioned his geological survey several times, so hopefully they are better clued up

AC said they were concentrating on 10 wells ( I think I head 10) drilled in the post Soviet era with more trustworthy data, and which used more advanced technology to determine drilling locations. These are the C37 , C26 etc

All in all he sounds determined to stay the course . 4 rigs by spring, including one that is rented. The strategy is to drill new wells

Are they repeating past mistakes? If they are then I would sell up, because we all know thats the definition of madness. If you think they aren't, then there is a possibility of progress and you are still invested

You're right to keep the questions looking at the future. My understanding that drilling into the upper Cretaceous zone should bypass the sanding issues as this will be a different geology (chalky like the white cliffs of Dover) and hopefully no sanding. That should also eliminate the well collapse issues which are caused being the movement of sand

The only concern is these wells were not targeted at a specific part in the Upper cretaceous and does that make a difference? There have been wells drilled into this zone in the past and perhaps they haven't been very productive, though there is no accurate historical data. Some wells as we know have been prolific

AJB: if they have done their homework and their prep work, then the contractor could move on from C37 to C36 and do the same operation. So you get two wells completed in quick succession

Getting 12 companies to compete on a objective (deepen this well) and asking them to solve the problem tends to throw up interesting and useful facts.

Like what kind of drilling rig will be suitable. its called picking your vendor's brains. sneaky

And its notable they dont mention a 180 tonne rig. So its likely to be too small for these sorts of deepening operations

this doesnt sound like they are blowing smoke . It sounds like they are asking for a really short term job to be completed by an outside contractor, which is different from renting a rig. All the preparatory work has been done and its up to this contractor to finish it off .

What happened in the past was different, even with previous 180 rigs. They could in theory get hold of a rig like that very quickly but its what you do with it that matters. Mudstud if you dont recognise that then you are here deramping. Let it go and move on to some other company

AJB. there is no point in discussing Z21/28 . There is no rig capable of tacking them

"define an agreement " is a ZEN classic !. What an earth does than mean

But I suppose they couldn't really reserve shipping till the rig was ready for shipment

As for the non-arrival of the 180 rig they didnt seem to need it and got by with the smaller rig for most of the work. My (charitable) impression is that they dont want a rig lying around unused or underutilised. So it makes sense to restart the tendering process

There is really no point in discussing other workovers. Currently the only game in town is C37, and now maybe C36

The 1000 bopd target, as it currently stands, is relying on the C37 workover to complete. Since ZEN is currently wire logging at that well it will have to wait
