No growth = sins exposed and increased risk.

Carrying the debt they do requires growth in excess of cost of credit else they go backwards.

I'm thinking the big sellers are buying back after having losses booked and for the past few weeks their sales have been parked with some 3rd party ready to be bought back after the lock-out period.

They claim a high percentage of the fall from £1 as a loss to book against gains and buy back. Even if it cost 10% spread plus fees it's still ahead of holding throughout. It might also explain no RNS's about holdings until it's over.

One reason I expected no quick bounce and pi's wouldn't be able to absorb the large volume of sells. So far correct. Tide could turn if some of the CGT sellers start to return 39 days on.

Near future could be a qtr. The new CFO might have a contract where he can't announce a new employer for a period after offering his notice or until he's no longer employed by the previous employer. Unusual but not impossible.

If the new CFO is any good with a reasonable track record it will be a vote of confidence.

Management managing for total shareholder return will seriously consider a consolidation plus buyback policy. May not have to buy many to close the gap.

It will gain necessary attention when EPS improves too. A proper annuity type share not a penny day traders dream.

Bang for buck is generally better.

Tax efficient for buyback as some shareholders will pay tax on divi but can use capital gains allowance if they sell and avoid some tax.

EPS will gain more attention.

I'm thinking this is going nowhere until at least a month after Feb 28th. Big boys who were burnt but might still believe will have cleared out to pocket the capital loss to offset against tax in future and might then buy back some after a month.

The question will be who has been buying in the meantime? My suspicion is it might be other funds under the same parent? Selling fund gets tax loss for the future, new holding fund sells back or holds for the same parent. Both reluctant to notify holdings until it's all done and dusted.

If such an operation is legal it makes sense and optimises whatever value the original holder can get from this mess. It could also mean they just don't care about value during that process so we sit where we are.
