Its definitely moved about half a mile to the East. It almost looks like it has dragged its anchor, but that is very unlikely with a vessel like this, so maybe they are tesing something.
Minor stuff, just a further delay until the next weather window I would expect. They could probably even have the AM hovering nearby while the rope is fixed by a support vessel if necessary.
More than half a lifetime in the industry tells me that there can sometimes be a lot of 'hurry up and wait' on a project. Looking on the bright side, at least the AM is only 36 hours from port and not several days like some parts of the world.
Now appears to have drifted off station again to the north
It's been on the same spot for about three hours now. I will be looking for a tracking pattern analogous to that shown for Glen Lyon which is only a few miles away.
The AM has been sitting stationary for just over an hour now. Can anyone see if she is exactly on location?
Slow speed manoeuvring being done. I don't think wind and waves are coming from the same direction at the moment, so sea conditions might be a bit tricky. We will know in due course
Having thought about this a little, I will speculate what is going on, so I could be wrong. It looks like the AM is being replenished in a relatively sheltered area but I notice that they are also just outside of UK territorial waters. iirc there are certain VAT concessions relating to the supply of goods & equipment to offshore facilities and vessels outside of the 12 mile limit. That might be why the Grampian Sovereign anchored near the AM at Cromarty or a few days but didn't unload, but now is able to do so. Just a guess, but I do remember such things happening in the past when I worked for a short while in Upstream budgeting and the AM isn't on the UK register which also may be a factor in a tax decision.
AM Seems to have turned head to wind and is now stationary. Perhaps there is a chopper due?
Grampian Sovereign is now also on the move. Looks like a mini Flotilla heading North.
AM seems to have weighed anchor and is heading NNE.
The Grampian Dynamic seems to have burst into life in the last couple of hours and is motoring around the AM anchorage as well.
"During 2018, Premier completed the selection of its key contractors for its operated Sea Lion project in the Falkland Islands and put in place LOIs for the provision of services as well as vendor financing. Premier is now working with its selected contractors to complete FEED and to convert the LOIs into fully termed contracts. In parallel, Premier is continuing to progress senior funding structures for the project, ahead of a final investment decision."
Absolutely cracking article which answers quite a few questions and importantly explains their plans and the options. I wasn't for example aware of the 20k per day production limit was for regulatory reasons and he does confirm that 40k is possible. The bit he didn't say though was if the AM would need to go to Rotterdam for an upgrade to get to that level assuming that they can successfully tie back GWA.
AM Definitely seems to have turned towards Nigg/Cromarty/Invergordon in the last hour
They are not exactly hurrying back though are they? 6 knots with the wind behind them. I am thinking the problem is not a biggy and that they intend a short visit to the shore to fix and plan to be back out again after Tuesdays forecast rough weather. Either that or the problem is causing the lowish speed. If there is to be a longer delay that takes them beyond the next weather window, then an rns would be preferred.
Definitely seems to be zooming back towards the bouy after a day sat to the west.
Now moved a few miles to the west overnight.. Quite windy, waves look to still be in the 2m range
The wind locally is blowing approx. between West and southwest so any buoy latch on would normally be directly into the wind (as most complex ship manoeuvres tend to be) so AM may be lining up to connect now as she is aiming head to wind. However, she appears to be somewhat south of the position she occupied earlier for a while.
AM is back on the move. Heading approx North West 6.5 knots. Grampian Dynamic a couple of miles astern.
