Water can be managed. The whole of the UK CS produces 4m barrels of water a day, and only 2m barrels of hydrocarbons. I am hoping to have lunch with a reservoir water management expert in the next few weeks to get her angle on this perched water thing.
Perhaps one for the completions or reservoir management guys on here, but lets say hypothetically the perched water continues and becomes troublesome, but is prognosed not to be the aquifer; is it possible to isolate or block that point of inflow on the heal of the producer so that inflow could occur elsewhere at the fractures near the midfoot or the toe of the producer? There must be mitigations available surely ?
They are going for the easy wins in the next two years and leaving the more speculative parts of the project for when they have a better cash flow and are better established
Daltry, I would rather that they released an RNS tomorrow first thing or Monday. The market isn't stupid and knows full well that some less scrupulous companies will use Friday morning, while everyone is distracted by the election result, to sneak out bad news. That sort of thing has happened many times before.
Bartlebobton, I am a long term holder. Some of my E&P holdings I have held for 20 years. One I have held for 32 years. HUR may still come good. Warwick seems open to question, but despite the recent news there are not many potential blockers to HUR achieving the maximim physical throughput for the AM in the next two years. It is what they do after then which is the bigger question.
I am taking comfort that I am not in Tullow at the moment where there is a bloodbath today. Down 50% - ouch !
Looking two years down the line HUR could be turning over £750 to 800m a year (assuming they tie in Lincoln) which will mean that they will be in a different place to now.
What would you folks like to see in the update later this month?
Explanation on current water cuts and if they are as prognosed?
Lab results on oil chemistry across the crude samples taken and what this means?
Is there going to be an updated CPR or other independant review?
Will they continue with next years plan or will the campaign be refocussed?
Do HUR continue to have Spirits support?
Anything else?
Thx tiggerman, and I think today is the six month anniversary of the first oil Announcement. HUR have come a long way in a short time. The ship watchers will no doubt be monitoring from now onwards.
Little things like the CEO saying "we are pleased to have made another discovery" towards the bottom of the RNS when everyone knows the algo's look for it in the first paragraph doesn't help. Regardless, I am not sure HUR structured the RNS the best way that they could have. They should have experienced advisors for this and it may be that Spirit requested that it was produced this way.
Isn't that the same API as Lincoln ? !!
Scotland GDP $216 billion
BP Revenue $ 302 billion
Not quite comparing apples with Apples but a good point ADUK :)
Excellent news that it is being streamed.
A really big field could get supermajor interest but two/three smaller ones then only the majors will come to the table.
Victor, Valiant and Vulcan were all taken by Southern North sea fields as well.
Or read the official report, a surprisingly easy to read document, which differs quite a lot from the film.
I am hoping that they will update the CPR after the current campaign and six months production from Lancaster. HUR have a lot of 2C and not enough official 2P to add real value to the share price. Investors would have more confidence if they update the CPR before the next Capital Markets event. They have two more years data since the last CPR and so will have learned a lot.
I think you mean a 747 which does have 4 englnes and a 10 tonne per hour thirst.
If they have been flaring 48 hours without a break then I am trying to think what the significance would be. A belt & braces approach to thoroughly check for communication over a long distance perhaps ? No doubt there are other reasons that they might do that.
Yes, the trade unions can see that the UK oil industry is now generally in decline and don't want a windfall tax, which is what has been speculated will be in the Labour Party manifesto.
ADUK, thx. We wouldn't want folks to worry unnecessarily if flaring was observed to have temporarily ceased.
