Yep , it’s an incredible result and birg will have similar ( but maybe not the buyback hopefully ) I’d rather better div . Hopefully a little burst in the US bubble might have investors there looking for value elsewhere

Hi sticky , nice returns but I’ve no idea why any of them would be investable - could you expand on why any or all might be worth a punt ? Apart from the obvious returns do they have something g special ?

Good morning Radar - your comment had me thinking far too much last night so I think I can answer it this way.

The conspiracy that the big boys control the market is from the same conspiracy template that there was no way Trump can win. Free capital markets are to economics what democracy is to politics. If you believe what you believe that blackrock and Apollo and the lacks have companies in their control then I don’t blame you for not owning any shares . However , if you believe as I do that they purchase well managed and profitable companies in order to make money for themselves then you can see why most free markets believers follow them in investing.

Radar , I for one am definitely not a gambler , if you have been here a long time it appears you have learned nothing and are keen just to frustrate any serious discussion . I feel for you it must be lonely looking for people to troll . I possibly have made a mistake engaging with you but I’ll see it through and wait for anyone with serious points to make . If you hang around twitter you might find other conspiracy theorists better suited to you

Thanks Sticky , could you tell us which one ? Wouldn’t mind a slice of that ! My other favourite Irish share , I believe is undervalued is FBD . They are so much better now on distributions since Strewaw got involved as active investors (10%) and they are well embedded here in the market . Other insurance companies are valued at multiples on a like for like basis . It has delivered 25% for me in last two years

Thanks hotdog , would you maybe expand on why you think it’s 12 euro ? I feel it’s worth more than that just in the fundamentals , think they will announce 2billion plus profits , dividends of 1 euro this year , 500 million buyback and at a PE of a forward looking profits of 1.5billion for next couple of years it’s hard to see why 12 isn’t the minimum

That’s fair enough playing cards , I feel like we have had this debate recently so my own thoughts are we know where everyone here stands on this issue but we don’t know for example what everyone thinks of

1- the recent developments on car finance in the UK re: reeves intervention

2- the valuation discount to similar sized banks in Europe and why ? Do we have more exposure to NIM re ECB for example

3- the economic outlook in Ireland with Trump 2.0 and its effect on banking

4-what if as David Williams says the IMF goes into the UK within 2 years -any effect on BIRG ?

5- what are the chances of record profits being announced on 24 Feb

This is the kind of debate that to me makes more sense here - I really do want to get opinions so I can decide to stay in or get out of a share that is a very significant part of my portfolio

I’ll stick with it ! Anybody else spot the incredible valuation on Italy’s mediobanca in its hostile takeover by MpS bank . Bank of Ireland has similar EPS , similar or greater profits ,and yet they h ave a 16Billion valuation ! I think we are still way undervalued if we can just get the messaging correct

Thoughts ? I think they will go 0.25 again and it won’t move the share price . Really hopeful that this time next week we are back over 10 and by the time we hit 24th Feb and results are out we are back at a 42 week high ! Any thoughts

I’d really love your opinion on the share price or if you wish to discuss geo politics perhaps in the context of the effect on BIRG share price . Close brothers jumping 20% this morning so it looks like a very significant intervention by reeves

If this doesn’t pop the share then nothing can -Reeves intervenes in UK car finance mis-selling case to protect lenders

Wow , this price differential really is becoming significant. Have we backed the wrong horse in a two horse race ? I can’t see it . Aib just diluted its share cap with a tier 1 bond of 700 m and still has to offload 20% of the bank . It’s PE ratio of 12 is a more realistic valuation which makes me believe it’s either 1- a matter of time before BIRG follows or 2- we are missing something
