I am back in this morning with around £100k. Well overdone iny opinion... but we wait and see.

As expected the market is well down on open. So far jet2 are bucking the market. TUI OTB down heavily, easyJet continuing down.

It's quite possible that the fleet will grow by 20% more in the next 10 years, seat flown will grow by a higher number.

I have some in hand and plenty in reserve. If the tone is soft on the update about winter we'll see 12. 50ish, I think. I have dumped £22.5k worth in auction just now at 13.10 so that's the close today and the open tomorrow.

We wait and see. If the numbers are good and the short term outlook weak then we'll see a drop and bounce.

I see it opening at 12.75.

This isn't the first time Jet2 have opened a base. We know how many aircraft and destinations. We know from previous new bases that the aircraft are fully utilised in the summer. We also know that the first season at a new location may be needed to establish brand, although Luton appears to have hit the ground running.

The update 4th September provided some insight. I expect the numbers well above last year but the outlook cautious.

The market is nervous ahead of results. I am expecting £12.50 as a low but it's a guess.

The tone of the update is important. They had planned a big winter, they reduced it just a bit but still a big increase on last year. Ultimately the winter is never going to be great but currently bookings are very soft December to Easter.

The announcement on Tuesday is all about the forward looking statement. They have been saying people are booking later for the last 2 years. That's very true but now it's normal so no need to keep mentioning it. It does make it very difficult to plan. We have the same problem with pricing ahead and currently we are running -4% on last year across Q1.

I only see a snapshot with 62 hotels 4 star and 6 5 star in the southern Europe catchment but it's been representative historically.

The business is doing extremely well as are easyJet but both share prices are in the toilet.

I am expecting the results to be good but a massive amount of caution over winter bookings, that will make up the headlines. A week later we'll see the same from easyJet.

Much depends how they word it.

The trade was posted in blue at £13.47 but it was a sell.

I sold 3176 shares a short while ago. Healthy profit taking. It's moved a bit fast today for me.

Jet2 into Gatwick is a super opportunity for them which they have grasped with 5+1 A321 aircraft.

Looking across the industry I see winners easyJet and Jet2 as the major winners when it comes to growth and market share.

Our summer figures are extremely strong and winter bookings robust. easyJet do have some price softness January and February currently. Easyjet needs to avoid being sucked into the ryanair mentality.

CEO Steve Heapy calls the move a "once in a generation opportunity" to accelerate Jet2's long-term growth.

It brings in a huge affluent area into the catchment. Departure airport is one of the major factors for booking. Millions will only fly from their local airport and won't ever consider travelling.

Looking at Gatwick it's lost some capacity but mainly US flights due to the trump nonsense.

Yes agreed. I am surprised by this because I thought Gatwick was beyond capacity and Jet2 wouldn't get a look in. As always it's going to take time to build a market but they have made a big commitment
