Let us also remember the brave Polish airmen who flew in the Battle of Britain:

A total of 145 experienced and battle-hardened Polish airmen fought in the Battle of Britain - 79 airmen in various RAF squadrons, 32 in No. 302 (Polish) Fighter Squadron and 34 in No. 303 (Polish) Fighter Squadron.
On 13 August Hermann Göring launched the Luftwaffe’s all-out air assault on Britain. This day, called Adlertag ('Eagle Day') was the first day of the Germans' Adlerangriff ('Attack of the Eagles') operation. For the next few months, the RAF and the Luftwaffe would engage in a series of intense air battles as the Germans sought to destroy RAF Fighter Command and secure control of the skies over England ahead of their planned invasion.

Polish pilots in RAF squadrons played a substantial part in all operations against the Luftwaffe in increasing numbers. One of the finest examples of their work was a remarkable feat accomplished by Sergeant Antoni Glowacki of No. 501 Squadron RAF, who on 24 August claimed five enemy bombers, which were shot down in three combat sorties over one day. He was one of only three pilots who achieved 'Ace-in-a-Day' status during the battle and recalls the day's actions in his memoirs: 'Suddenly a Defiant with a Messerschmitt 109 on its tail flashed across my path between me and the Junkers. I am now firing at the Messerschmitt and see my bursts sink into its fuselage and wings. He is hit and goes down closely behind the Defiant, which trials black smoke. Both aircraft crash into the sea below'.

How can our country create a sustainable industrial investment culture when people like us, investing in a company that is doing all it promised and making money, keep getting our potential profits extracted by the market? It doesn't bode well for the future as shorters, traders and hedge funds increasingly shape the market. Not good.

I want to thank all of you fellow HUR holders & posters here for sharing your views, experience, links, research, shaggy dog stories and doggerel. It's been good fun.

I've been finding the ups and downs of share watching too stressful and time consuming. It doesn't suit my temperament. I was a happy & ignorant "buy & hold" type of guy with my £3k worth of HUR, until I discovered BB's last summer. Too much information, much of it contradictory, large sums risked, playing on my mind, too many hours reading BB's, & blogs, fretting and neglecting my social life. Up's & downs. Stupid errors. Botched attempts at trading. Greed & fear.

It's been salutary. Learned a lot about myself & my many weaknesses. I've got out just about where I came in, so no harm done, but no riches either. I'm a bit uncomfortable investing in oil discovery tbh, although I'm pragmatic enough to know that we are all "invested in oil" in our society. I'm done with shares for now. Cashed them all in.

I'm just wondering what would people see as constituting"good news" at the upcoming CMD, 11th July?

Can we expect news about:
1) Lancaster EPS performance to date? Actual (daily?) numbers or just "performing as guided"?
2) Geological insights recently gained?
3) Less likely? Detail about Warwick Deep?

What would be on your "wish list" for positive news and positive actions resulting from the CMD?

Commiserations both. Been caught out myself by both of those same mistakes. FOMO is a powerful force.
I was mulling things over this morning and came to a ( rather obvious) realisation: Us poor private investors are the only people who are actually investing their OWN cash here. The HUR BOD, trader RB of CA, Spirit & Bluewater senior staff etc etc are all on a wage and spending other people's money.
And yet we are at the very bottom of the food-chain when it comes to useful information. Seems a trifle unfair somehow.

(Since we are after the 9pm "watershed") Reminds me of a crude German schoolboy joke:

Old man visits a cafe and, wanting just a a simple piece of plain toast says to the approaching waitress:

It only works in German where "slice" is a colloquial term for.......well, you can guess.

I've heard people on here say things like "all my tranches of HUR are now in profit".
Out of curiosity, do some of you have share dealing platforms which separate out each purchase of a particular share and give averages and profits for each "tranche" ? Or would you need to do this yourself on, say, Excel?

I strongly suspect I am just about "even" after 2 years + here. Maybe a couple of hundred quid up or down. Can't really be bothered doing the sums because its depressing information either way.

Not really, because I immediately ( angrily) bought 2/3rds of them back at +1.5p after the stop loss booted me out.

When people talk of "the reservoir got damaged" do they mean just the part where the drill entered the reservoir? Surely the whole reservoir would not be "damaged" or compromised by an area of collapsed rock & mud (or whatever) around the penetration point of the drill?

Just trying to better visualise what happens below ground.

Aww fcuk, I'm exhausted trying to protect my capital with this share. This week had stop losses triggered and had to buy back at higher price. Many botched attempts at second guessing the market. I think I'm about 1.5% up (maybe, not done the sums) after 2 years of anxiety.

I'm resenting the time I've spent anxiously watching developments with HUR & the SP, and my missus is ****ed off with me too. I get that HUR BOD are not responsible for the SP or particularly interested or motivated by it. But given that we, and they, know that the SP drifts downwards on no news it would be helpful if they issued the odd progress report; even if it just said: "Hi. We are still here, working away, nothing has blown up and everything is cool".

So frustrating when I have so much confidence in the actual engineering project to have my pockets rifled on a regular basis.
Anyway... the sun shines, I've done my day's graft, my family are well and I've opened a nice beer, made for me by Carmelite nuns, to wash away the worries. Lots to be grateful for.

A respectful suggestion from a less clued up investor; Could you avoid words like "healthy" or "poor" (you used that term the other day) to describe volumes. It's an empirical number, so relative terms like "high" or "low" would be more useful to readers of your posts rather than subjective words like "healthy". At nervous times like this it's good to avoid unecessary emotive terms. Thank you.
