Lovely pictures Sipp, thank you for sharing them. Lovely light & reflections. Better than any company pics I've seen so far. Curious as to how you got both frontal and side views, was she rotating in the tide? Testing her thrusters? Maybe you did speed around her on a RIB, Milk Tray in hand.
Now, if it's no trouble, go back at pre-dawn, take a powerful search lamp and paint her with hull with light, while her superstructure is lit up like Blackpool and the sky behind her blushes pink.
If, as some say, this Puffet poster on ADVFN is credible, then an earlier post, on 02 Jan 2019 12:39 from Puffet,
"She is heading WOS to the field to assess the hook up set up and conditions",
may suggest that Friday's wee adventure was more of an opportunistic (decent weather window) scoping exercise?
Thanks AduK.
Jeez, a lot of fishing vessels in the area. It's like Union St on a Saturday afternoon.
A query about the AIS position system.
Can it be trusted to show a ship's orientation when the ship is stopped, or has been stopped for some time?
Thanks dspp,
That makes perfect sense; latch up and must also check you can unlatch. Otherwise only half a test.
( being able to unlatch if a hurricane is coming would be mighty important come that day)
So good having knowledgable folk here. Thank you.
Interesting that she is also a director at Velocys, who are working ( had a bit of bad luck recently with their reactor) to produce aviation fuel from bio mass. She must (hopefully) know a thing or two about hydrocarbons.
Just logged into my share dealing A/C this morning to a pleasant surprise; another penny or so on the SP and I'm back in the black!
Sorry, couldn't resist this: ( we are still on O/T holiday mode right?)

Thanks for the replies folks.
Didn't realise it was a common problem. Hope to have a new account with a physical, local stockbroker by Monday, (which I'm opening to sell off some OTC stock). Will have another try next week (if it still looks cheap)
Hecate: "PS: Go on someone please post an inane link to a music video to get the jungle juices going. Job done wound up nice and truly."
Fancy a winter beverage Hecate? Try this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=arDLgz3KHYA
Thanks All for the info. I've got a better picture now of what will be happening soon.
Even after watching some videos of FPSO hook ups I'm still unsure about one thing;
Does the FPSO vessel continually use its thrusters to remain in position over the buoy (albeit bows on to the wind) exerting little load on the buoy moorings? Or does it effectively use the buoy as an anchor/pivot and let the buoy moorings take the strain of wind & sea forces on the vessel?
Since I'm parading my ignorance again, another question; at what point does HMRC collect/demand duty on our oil? Is there any kind of "bonded warehouse" arrangement like whisky?
Just my (totally uneducated) tuppenceworth, but doesn't the recent, frequent, short-term postponing of the sail-away have the feel of someone "feeding the parking meter"?
I'm guessing, but I imagine you can't just extend a berth booking in a busy port for, say a few hours more. There must be a minimum time frame, like maybe 48hrs or so?
In which case, a ship that's otherwise ready to go, but just waiting for good weather (or maybe some back-up spare part, or a Christmas pudding to be delivered) would keep extending her booking by the minimum time period allowed?
This is based on nothing but pure uninformed speculation, but I present it here as absolute certainty because I've got rose-tinted beer goggles on now and I want it to be true.
Apachewind: "I got a bottle of Spitfire but the local RAFA serves Hurricane so may have to visit there too!"
I've had that, good stuff. You've got me thinking now;
Maybe I could lay in some HUR related beers for the dark January nights? "Hurricane" for sure, I remember a "Wildcat" from Cairngorm brewery. Then there's Harviestoun's "Old Engine Oil" ....
YuYus:
"From tomorrow teatime I will be attaching myself to a intravenous drip that’s been modified to dispense Stella Artois and Birra Moretti"

Several mentions of beer recently on this board. Good stuff. Beer is something very close to my heart. I'd have guessed it would be all "fen wen" and champers, what with this being a posh stock forum and all : )
So... what beer are you drinking right now and what do you hope to drink in the coming days? ( Name, rank & serial number please, if you can remember; i.e. Name, ABV and beer style)
For myself, right now, it is "Dunkel" a "Dark Lager" (?) of 4.9% made in Glasgow by the "WEST" brewery. Dark, malty (almost Bovrilly) and chocolatey. I find myself favouring the darker beers as the nights draw in and that, hic...
Seems we spend a lot of time on here going over what Dr T. did or didn't say at various points in time.
I think it's a bit unfair to denounce him based on our own interpretation of what we thought we heard him say, or what he may have said in an interview when quizzed about (to him) relatively trivial details. He is firstly a geologist and man of vision, with the training, education, experience and research skills to solidly back up his ( & our) grand plan. He is not a PR expert (thank fud).
I wouldn't want him to behave like a politician, saying nothing of note in case it comes back to bite him. Sure, it's important that our FPSO leaves Rotterdam, but from Dr T's point of view, especially several months ago, it doesn't matter a flying duck whether it's October or the 18,19th or 23rd December. What maters is that it's fit for purpose and gets to WoS in full operational condition.
We have been given very clear and well-illustrated, written presentations about the venture. Everything listed on there (highly complex work, mind) has come to pass and within the time frame given. That document is what we should best use to evaluate HUR's achievement ( or not ) of milestones.
An aside; I'm working on a two phase project of my own at the moment. I've told the customer that Phase 1 will be completed end of March'19 and Phase 2 by end June'19. In reality, and with a fair wind, I'm hoping to be finished completely by end of April '19.
If I happen to tell a friend, on a night out, that I'll be finished early, I wouldn't expect to be lynched if bad luck or events get in the way and I have to revert to the letter of the original proposal, which is still on target.
The guy is human, possibly doesn't really enjoy public events and interviews and has a hell of a lot more on his mind than solving my 20% paper-loss on the SP.
I wonder if some of us here suffer a bit from "Engineers' Disease"* and spend time & energy defending the "correctness" of our own world-view at the expense of listening to & learning from each other.
*NB: I consider myself guilty of this, as charged, just ask my missus : )
PS: I post the above in full recognition that I don't contribute anything factually useful to this board and so should probably keep my marf shut. I've learnt a lot from almost everyone here, even during the handbags at dawn!, and I am very grateful for the opportunity.
My shares in the serious endeavour and adventure of deep-sea exploration seem to have morphed into a dull commodities holding, nailed to the POO.
Surely FOIL and decent (or even disappointing) EPS results will bring the share price back into line with the actual, real world activity and assets of HUR?
A company turning $20 bills into $50 bills, many thousand times a day, will, I hope, look rather attractive.
After some shock at the drop today to sub 40p, I had a wee think to myself and bought some more of these.
What else can you get for 39p? Not much.

"haggis_trap,
"However HUR is basically politics-proof as all bets on EPS."
Not true (I know this from ongoing experience).HUR is traded in London, and thus pounds sterling. With the shameful and embarrassing Brexit ineptitude and confusion, and its effect on the currency since the 'referendum that should never have happened', overseas investors in Hurricane (or any London stock) have been hit hard, and it could get worse. 'Overseas' includes USA, which is obviously bad news."
-----------------------------------------------------------------
This issue is something that's been exercising my mind. Will the whole market be so badly affected that a (long erm?) shrinkage will occur? Will 50p be the new £1 for share prices? Other countries must be looking at the UK and thinking 'best keep out of that mess for a long while".
At the moment, and feeling rather gloomy, I'd just be relieved to have an opportunity to exit a penny above my average of 48.7p. I know I wouldn't take it, but it would be nice to be able to breath properly again. All of which tells me I probably shouldn't be in this game.
There's risk and then there's risk wrapped up in cock-up, inside a crisis and smothered in fudge. ( to mangle Winston Churchill's quote). I don't think I was quite prepared for this.
Still "K.B.O." as old Winston would say.
