The latest Investing Matters Podcast episode with London Stock Exchange Group's Chris Mayo has just been released. Listen here.
Irrespective of holidays it is really poor form of NM not to have made some statement of appreciation for the support shown by small shareholders following the extraordinary plea for votes pre AGM. This could be done irrespective of what negotiations (if any) are going on in the background. Even if NM has been sat on the pot throughout the festive break he could have tweeted something.
I’ve read NM’s comments with interest. He looked completely crestfallen at the AGM and at least he has acknowledged he’s landed himself in the soup with BHO and NCM. Not sure what olive branch he’s offered at this stage. I don’t think saying ‘I’m sorry can we be friends again counts as one? We’ll see what happens anyway.
Thanks addicknt, no wonder NM looked so sick yesterday and did not address the voters with a closing statement. Really poor that he has not made a statement thanking the PI's for getting him re-elected. No doubt he is taking advice on his position.
I agree Lesliez, what NM now knows is that he has one year max to come up with either finance or a sale deal a lot of PI's are not going to support him next time. Assuming a similar turnout next time and a 5%+ swing against him and he is gone.
Steve4077 it's not 10% it's 5%, as a 5%+ swing ousts NM. Granted a special resolution of 75% (I think?) needs to be vote to in favour of an EGM to hear a resolution for NM's removal but its the accountiblity that NM now has a clear issue with.
NM's days are numbered, this was effectively a vote of no confidence from three of the main investors. In most circumstances a CEO would resign, his position is untenable. Who is going to finance Solgold to production in these circumstances? No chance. He is either going to have to sell or resign. Even if he lasts a year (which I doubt) without a substantial improvement he is toast next year.
Dear PGE, I have just read your posts with interest. Thank you for those. I am not a geologist so appreciate these type of posts. Do you think NM and Solgold over sell their news on these holes when they report on RNS's?
Dear rcgl2, I don't think that is quite right with respect. From memory when NM said there would be multiple exit points the SP was mid 30's - and that was 3-4 years ago. It was implied in what NM said that the price would rise on future news and stablise at points giving shareholder points to exit. Clearly no-one can expect the price to just go up without re-tracing, but there has been no real rise in that period since his statement. There have been various heart stopping drops and to be fair recoveries, but has it been a good investment since NM said it? No.
Re Lloyds Share Dealing, I think you'll have to ring them up, I had the same with HSBC. I've voted in favour of all resolutions just now. I am not wholly impressed with NM but on balance, in for a penny...
