I’ve not been on as much this week anyway as I’ve been working. Would have thought the world’s foremost IT expert would have been back at it this week as well?

I think this is holding up reasonably well when you look at what’s happening to some of the other online retailers.

My only concern with ted at the moment is I’ve bought two jumpers recently and both have had to be sent back. One went really funny in the wash delisted following the instructions and the other all the stitching came apart on the sleeve so I hope we haven’t got a product quality issues otherwise we could have a problem with returns.

I work with a lot of IT workers and tend to find that those on the technical side on systems and online development definitely are susceptible to social awkwardness, abrasiveness and other difficulties. He fits the bill perfectly. It also explains why he spends all his days here on a stock in which he is not invested trying to find new ways to antagonise the good folk of this board.

I mean since this returns business has ramped up he’s gone out of his way to dig up so much material, and now Molly Mae. If I don’t believe in a business case after my initial research I leave it alone and maybe revisit it at a different time. Would I spend 7 days a week on the board with the sole intention of winding posters up. It’s not beyond the realms of plausibility that he is in the employ of shorters, I mean his back story is completely implausible. He might as well have told us he works for MI5!

If ARB has a PE of 5 then I’d eat my hat. You’re talking about it being some clapped out defensive value stock. This is a growth stock, so when the PE is low it’s time to pile in.

If you’re are taking PE as a benchmark for investment case then probably better off trying to work out what the earnings could be on a best and worst case for next year or when Texas phase 1 is fully up and running. My guess is this would look rather cheap at today’s prices if you’ve got a medium term horizon.

The problem with ARB for 2022 is that it doesn’t matter how good or badly they do all of the problems with btc and the wider market are macro-economic.

It’s going to be a tough year for any growth company with earnings valued in the future by the sophisticated investors as they will dump every time their is a sniff of higher interest rates and/or inflation.

These types of share will be a trader’s wet dream.

Kallu - surely the pent up demand was largely in relation to bricks and mortar stores?

If you look at the graph from the ONS that was posted earlier then you can see the upward trajectory of online rocketing during the pandemic (as you would expect) and then coming down in the last nine months as shops re-opened (the ‘pent-up’ demand) and now falling back down but continuing an upwards underlying trend.

I’m not surprise that Next’s bricks and mortar offering is struggling as I have posted two or three times in the last few months about my own anecdotal evidence of how poor their offering has been across several of their stores , forcing you to go down the online route anyway.

Kallu - you have that much confidence in your investment in ABF you hang around here like a bad smell. Why not go join your fellow ABF investors and share your tremendous research.

This is definitely a share to test the patience and I dipped in and out of it last last to take opportunities elsewhere but started building a position just in time.

I haven’t worked it out but I reckon I’ve covered last years loses also its onwards and upwards from here on in.

Rich - conversely you can type into Google ‘why do accountants make good business leaders’ and find pages of articles/references.

Leadership - you’ve either got it or you’re taught it and it doesn’t matter if you’re an accountant or not. Just that the training and experience gives you a solid base and an understanding of the numbers that puts you on the path.

Hi rich - of course. My point was that the training gives you a broad base of business skills. It’s not just crunching numbers in some basement. I’ve seen a few negative digs on here around them now thought I would put my two penneth in!

P&l wise we’ve been hammered by the drop in btc value - operating loss of £12.5m.

We seem to have sold some crypto as we have a loss on sale of £740k.

Yep once the therapeutics are confirmed it’s proper game on. I’m still waiting for SNG to be confirmed but it will be one of the large US pharmas that will come up with the pill for our medicine cupboard that sits next to our paracetamol and ibroprofen.

Dan - that’s the thing about accountants. Most people think they just sit there all day punching numbers and don’t appreciate the wide range of business skills the training and working in the role give you, especially if you avoid going into a practice . It’s amazing how many go on to work in wider roles, make it to CEO, etc.

Squid - i shorted easyJet last year just before the rights issue. It was a complete fluke but a right touch! Agree re-unlimited risk, even with a stop loss.

Hi ossingh - I’ve mentioned this a couple of times. The macro economics is directing the stock market at the moment so anything growthy and tech is going to swing like a pendulum, traders dream, and not expecting big things this year but good chancers to accumulate to hold longer term.

There’s not much good news out there at the moment that’s for sure. It’s times like this that I’m glad I let the IIs handle my pension rather than managing my own sipp.

So it seems party dresses were popular for Next.

Strong online performance and shrinking (albeit slower) bricks and mortar performance.

This despite labour and supply issues with particular mention to warehousing and distribution.

I think it’s more to do with the current macro environment. Shares with revenues in the future have been punished this week due to the expectations around interests rates and inflation.
