I think Moorhey what your anecdote highlights is that the up and coming generation are digital savvy and are not afraid of change and happy to utilise new entrants that are plugged into their "lifestyle" choices. I think we are in for a very fast pace of development in this space over next 5 yrs - this is a real challenge for the existing "mature" business - they will need to adapt or see their business shrink. Apparently some 37% of all transactions in EU are still cash and or cheque - so huge market opportunity. The Paysafe card could well be a jewel in the crown to be an alternative to the monopoly of Visa/MasterCard and disrupt - merchant adoption is all that is required and if it provides a cheaper alternative then it will be adopted by merchants. The change of name for me is the clue to future strategy. Likewise I think GS has hit nail on the head - unless the market starts to understand how well placed PAYSAFE is to capitalise on this opportunity and moves up the price to eradicate the discount to peers then PAYSAFE is potentially a very attractive bid target for some large and existing "old world" business to play catch up and also be earnings accretive. Time will tell.

With more and more payments going digital - can't help thinking that the rebrand to PAYSAFE group is a master-stroke - leverages heavily on the existing PAYSAFE card and I think JL is the man with a plan and may just be a bit of a genius. If we think 5 yrs ahead to new world we are likely to see less use of the traditional payment via credit cards and more towards electronic payments as we shift online ( if reports are to be believed) which will no doubt allow the likes of PAYSAFE to eat into revenues of the likes of Visa and MasterCard. Investment and Technology agreements by Visa initially into Monetise subsequently abandoned in favour of Stripe makes me conscious that they are fearful of new entrants eating their lunch and have taken steps to at least get some handle on the fast pace of technology change in this space. MasterCard as best I can judge have been a lot less visible in their strategy unless they of course they have a buy not build strategy.... The only question is will we be independent long enough to realise something along the lines of above......

I wouldn't let it get to you Moorhey - market's to function always need opposing views. Winner gets to write history in arrears - only time will tell You are right , I am bullish on OPAY but I am also pragmatic - I think OPAY will succumb to a bid long before it ever reaches its full potential - and investors should make a tidy sum along way - as the cash in this deal shows OPAY at current size would be an appetiser in the scheme of things even at £4/5/6/7.

Further sector consolidation - interesting - that is a lot of cash flowing into EU banks who currently own Visa Europe, anyone know if OPAY (as a principal membership for acquiring merchants) will they share in the proceeds of sale ? 1 week to Cap Mkts day on 10th - Prospectus imminent, update on synergies and integration and IMHO re-rating by brokers - could be a very interesting week - I think we may test 400p

Paypal was bought by Ebay in Aug 2002 for $1.5bn - 13 yrs later it has a MV of $ 44bn - so it has more or less doubled in MV every 2.2 years - highlights how fast the electronic market for payments is growing and there is no sign of letting up.. Obviously PayPal is the 800lb gorilla in the room and we are now in a consolidating market with many wishing to challenge PayPal position - therefore for me the more likely scenario is that OPAY will be a bid target as it is a discount to peers

Another reason why OPAY needs to get off AIM and move to the main market - 4/5 yrs old issue with no client loss and SP gets temporarily spanked. Compare to Worldpay who just floated on FTSE - they announced on 19th that 1.1mn customers suffered a data breach - SP unaffected as no impact to client monies - go figure similar product/market/clients yet two different treatments. This has all the hallmarks of a non-event story with a sensational headline being used to spook investors for a cheap hoover up of shares....... 17mn shares traded and no doubt a lot of small investor stop losses triggered followed by inevitable recovery in SP - all based off "press speculation" - aka a few hacks doing the bidding for some big mudslingers with vested interests me thinks...FCA should be taking a very close look at potential market manipulation here and make an example if evidence found

Tomorrow will be one month since EGM on name change to Paysafe - should see an RNS in next week and also hopefully we will also see Prospectus shortly thereafter - and onwards to the next leg up. GLA

I see from FCA site short have reduced further and now only just above the reportable level

@Techni - IMHO and trying to make sense of the graphs versus the fundamentals I wonder if perhaps your graph has all the hallmarks of a "W" trading pattern forming - hopefully with a break out to the upside - most likely with publication of prospectus ?

Cap Markets day on 10 Nov ( 3 weeks away) and prospectus could be due anytime between now and then - with name change to Safepay being effected sometime in the next week ( 4 weeks on from EGM) - I think we will see a nice leg up in SP once prospectus is issued and another one with a positive trading statement on the 10th. sorry for delayed response Techni - tied up in meetings all afternoon but I see GS replied. There was another trade after the cancellation for 3m shares ( £10m in value) guess broker got a bit excited and mixed up value and qty - 3m done at 349p so I would say that was a buy
