I think I check the shares too often once I buy them. It makes me anxious and really there is no need to check them daily when I'm intending to hold them for a bit anyway.

Thank you Nige_W that is really useful to know. I tend to pick shares when they peak then they take a dive!. I think I'm a curse to all shares!. But to be fair I always hold them until they go back up. Although in a couple of cases namely william hill and a renewable energy comany ipo I managed to get out in time as if I was still there now I would never have got my money back as they really tanked. I don't mind waiting in the meantime as I do think barratts are a sound company. I think I better stick to my day job as a career in shares isn't for me :-)

Quite a drop today. Is this something to do with with Italys banks and also the issue HSBC have had with their banking app. Hoping they will go back up next week.

I hope the share price rises enough before ex dividend day as my understanding is that the share price drops on the ex dividend day by the same amount as the dividend payment. I'm all new to this so still learning.

KD37 thanks your right I wasn't looking to sell these for a while anyway so I can do what you say and have a 6 month plan.

I haven't checked these shares since Friday when I brought them at their peak and then they dropped 3 percent as I was afraid they had dropped significantly further. So I'm glad they haven't dropped much since Friday. I may be about 4 percent down but I'm going to hold them for a while yet so hopefully they will recover to the 577.50 I brought them at.

Thank you. Your right it was just unexpected the drop just as i brought them but hopefully it will be back up again soon.

Thanks your right I just have to hold on to the shares. I brought them to hold in the long term anyway so I shouldn't let this short term drop get me down.

I've got the worst timing with shares I brought these just before they dropped over 3 percent. What a nightmare day :-(

I purchased some of these shares early this morning and they have dropped since. I'm hoping that they recover to at least back to the 577.50 I brought them at.
