I've lost 26k, can't believe it. Im already going through a tough time and am on max dose of anti depressants due to other things going on in my life. I think this has just about finished me off if I'm honest.

Taylor wimpeys trading update is this week not barratts. But this should give an indication on how builders have been doing recently.

ScottishPI I completely understand how that can happen. The thing is you could have had the opposite happen had you not have sold. It really is down to luck a lot of the time and no one can know the future. All we can do is make the decision at the time and hope its the right one.

Thank you for the advice I appreciate it. I think because I'm quite new to investing that I've made a few mistakes. I do think that sometimes your better off taking a small profit than holding on for more then ending up losing the profit and into a loss.

Mine is holding on too long and not selling them at the right time. It's difficult though because sometimes you hold on thinking it will go up more and then it suddenly dips and sometimes you sell thinking it will dip and it goes up. A lot of the time it's down to luck unfortunately.

The markets reacted to that decision today with building shares dropping a lot today. They always get disproportionatly affected by brexit

There is no brexit vote tomorrow it's been postponed so she can try and get consessions on the backstop

I'm in at an average of 570 at the moment so about a pound a share down and that's before any further turmoil but I'm going to hold them rather than sell and take the loss because I think the market is really overreacting and this company is a sound one and can do fine whatever the brexit outcome. Just have to try not to watch this share for the next month as it's been nothing bit down at the moment.

Well said ojls. I would like to also add that finding pleasure in other people's losses makes you a particularly nasty and quite sad person chaebol. I don't wish losses on anyone, I only hope for the best for myself and others. I'm a firm believer in karma.

I agree I think the likelyhood of getting a better deal is slim. As much as MPs are against the deal she's brought back I can't see anyone else getting a better one. Problem is mps are split and no matter what deal she does they aren't all going to be happy, they want to either undo brexit or have their cake and eat it ie leaving the EU and having the same benefits of being a member. It's just all mess and I hope the deal does get through but can't see it happening.

Watching the daily politics today they are saying they don't think there will be much of a fall on the day of the vote as the market is already pricing in the fact that theresa may won't get the deal through. I think that could be right as we have seen the builders drop a lot the past few weeks based on the deal not getting through.

It's what happens after that which could affect the builders in a major way as then the options are going back and seeing if we can get the deal changed and get that through or no Deal or another referendum or general election. No deal would be a disaster for the share price. Getting an amended deal through parliament would be good for the share price and another referendum or general election would be bad due to the uncertainty in the meantime.
