I think that you have to keep your feet on the ground with Avacta. So the Affimer has found its way round a mouse and delivered a warhead to the right address, very good. If it can find its way round a human, deliver the warhead to the right address without dropping it and not cause the human any nasty side effects, then you can expect telephone number profits. Having said that, great news anyway.
Having been in business for a number of years, I got to deal with all sorts of characters and some of them were outright crooks, but they knew what they wanted and they went for it without a thought for the morality of what they were doing. On the other hand some of them were just simply brilliant at what they did and succeeded by being clever and shrewd and you sit back and admire them from afar. I am hoping that Cathal Friel is one of the latter, if so, just enjoy the ride, if not, it won't come as any great shock.
I'm quite heavily into SKIN, but still gradually losing a large profit here, which is my fault for not taking more profit at £1.80.
moniman, I have the same problem. CF appears to be confident enough to risk his own money and yet it just seems somehow too easy to turn a company around to profitability and to sell it at the latest by the end of the year. Could be worth a punt though.
I missed the finely instead of finally.
And with him goes his horrific spelling. "Nothing to right home about" "Board of this rubbish".
Just to give you an idea, I did the same thing with Fevertree. Doh!
Good article RMR, thank you.
This has been a buy and hold for me, but I sold out yesterday at 190% profit because I can't quite see what's keeping it up. However, history tells me that whatever I do, it will be wrong, but as somebody else said, profit is profit, but a close eye in needed here.
Huge lesson learned here with VRS. I've watched £43k worth of profit gradually leak away here because of indecision and it's happened on a couple of other of my shares as well. Note to self, take profits. You can always reinvest, even though you may lose a little. Congrats to those who sold at £1.80. Smart move.
I enjoyed the podcast which was very informative and reassuring. During the year I have whittled down my portfolio to a small number of forward looking companies with bright futures which includes VRS, so it's now time to sit back and let the market do its thing and hopefully make me a little better off. Happy new year all, and looking forward to a profitable 2020.
I think that the term "inexperienced" could have been applied to any of the candidates for PM.
Stay young. Eat well, excercise, do yoga and get your prostate checked out.
Once again, "AJ" from Investors Chronicle has pronounced VRS as a sell, this time at 79p. Let's hope it never dips to the Feb 19 low again. Incidentally, alcohol dehydrates the body and will make you feel even worse....eventually. Try a flu jab, works wonders for nearly everyone. I always have one, and they're free for us old crocks. Have a great Christmas everyone.
Just dipped a toe in
Hi Max. I have a great respect for your posts and I appreciate what you are saying and certainly don't wish to debate politics on here. My comment was purely made from my perspective and how the result would affect me personally. I have just turned 70 and I know what criteria I am working with, so to me it was a good result.
Just listened to the Directors Talk interview with NR, and it's more or less as per Vox. NR described his aspiration as "to become a global giant" which if realized will make us all pretty well off. Great election result this morning, so I'm looking forward to a very interesting 2020. GLA.
I followed TW for a while and without a shadow of a doubt he knows his stuff, but like all of these paid pundits, they have to keep on coming up with the goods time after time, otherwise they would loose their subscribers. I am not a subscriber to his site so I haven't read his report, but I assume it's not good. However, from what I remember, when he's right, it's an "I told you so" moment, but when He's wrong it goes very quiet and it's a "moving right along" moment. So TW has to keep up the momentum to satisfy his followers and maybe VRS is going to be his bullying victim for the time being, and after all, there's got to be a certain amount of envy towards NR, because if VRS does make the big time, he is going to be seriously rich and that's going to irritate people like TW. I once had an email conversation with Tom Bulford (Red Hot Penny Shares) and he admitted that if there were no companies that looked like good candidates for the RHPS portfolio he would just pick three that might do well so that he had something to print that month and I think that TW does the same, although he tries to destroy them rather than boost them.
Many thanks for the update. Great job.
I was in (IMM). Got very badly burned, but I'm in profit with AGL and Parsortix works so I'm happy. Slowly but surely does it.
