During World War II, Britain effectively responded to the threat of invasion, leveraging advancements such as radar to maintain military superiority. Radar technology, primarily developed in the 1930s by various scientists from various countries, is largely attributed to the pioneering work of Robert Watson-Watt, a Scottish physicist who showcased its military potential. Originally aimed at military applications, radar allowed European nations, especially the UK, to devise systems for detecting incoming aircraft, significantly enhancing air defense strategies and proving vital in battles like the Battle of Britain.
In my view, it's time for Britain to embrace that spirit of innovation once more. Instead of complaining, we should recognise and believe in our capacity for progress, especially since others clearly respect our contributions.
