Those who are shorting wood are doing it as part of a strategy - they aren't betting the family home on the short

They might get round to closing - but right now they are too busy opening shorting positions :)

Any takeover will bring extra scrutiny from the regulators - they will be keen to know who are the recent beneficial owners of recent share dealings

If Sidara want to put their shareholding to any use - they have to declare it - it gives them leverage with the board if any deal is offered

and global companies would be putting their global reputation at stake - no one can stop a whistleblower coming out and exposing collusion SMH

If they are accumulating through banks - that makes no difference - if Sidara have the final controlling interest in those shares - they must count towards THEIR ownership

Agreed - if they can pick up the company at around the current price - that more than compensates for any current losses the company may be sitting on

I'm pretty sure there are a few investing strategies they could use - that don't involve exiting their short positions

Now that they seem real - I have re-rated my decision to sell at these new recent highs - looks like there might be some mileage in LLOYDs yet to come

It's looking increasingly more likely that the shorters have got their strategy right.

As we get closer to the Dec 03 deadline - and depending on the numbers - I would expect these short positions to increase

That is entirely possible - but wouldn't the WG BOD also be privy to that information - or do the potential bidders have no obligation to disclose to the WG BOD any bad news they find?

Of course - if they were STILL interested in buying - they would have used that bad news to push down their offer price
