Great news this morning ..
I’ve been a little distracted of late but todays news is brilliant !
Well done Scancell and the ‘research’ team !
Scancells ‘shop window’ is starting to fill up !
Cancer and now infectious diseases ..
Take care all ..
Lol .. I briefly saw a discussion on here about us Monkey Hangers lol ..
Love the H’Angus the Hartlepool mascot becomes Mayor story ! His only manifesto promise was ‘free bananas for school children’ !
And yes, he did make it happen ! Lol ..
Nice to see a ‘politician’ keep a promise lol !
Take care all..
I had a little chuckle .. no one has referred to me as WTF before lol ..
Here is one article about the CRUK findings mentioned earlier ..
https://amp.theguardian.com/society/2023/feb/03/more-than-500000-people-in-uk-will-be-diagnosed-with-cancer-each-year-by-2040
Fairly grim reading .. let’s hope scancells oncology pipeline can fit into part of the solution somewhere?
Take care all ..
Morning all .. thanks again for all the messages re my dad .. we’ve got him home and he’s comfortable in bed but sadly his stay in hospital was fairly traumatic.
Did anyone see Charles Swanton on bbc breakfast this morning .. new study by cancer research U.K. paints a fairly gloomy picture of the future of cancer treatment in this country .. !?
Personally, I think new treatments could improve the picture somewhat !
Take care all !
What a day .. been in hospital today to be with my dad who has been diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis .. no way it seems to treat it and it’s progressive but each patient’s experience is unique !
Always seems everything happens at once .!!
Managed to read through the RNS and not too much to get upset about I’d say .. and I certainly wasn’t available to trade any today !
Recruitment of modi1 and Scib1 continue and analysis of Covidity patients continues .. little top up to the tune of $6m ! And further milestone payments potentially not years away !
Nothing to get too upset about in my opinion !
Take care all !
I was up and scanned the RNS but then had to take the kids to school ..
Not a surprising market reaction I guess .. still haven’t managed to read the entire RNS but the comment about Covidity doesn’t really suggest it’s ‘over’ completely …
The read out is still to come?
I’ll read the rest when I get 5 mins !
Take care all !
The wording of the RNS is interesting .. scancell ‘expects to announce’ its interims ..
Is there a situation where they might not report tomorrow I wonder??
I am expecting them, but just thought the wording was interesting .. or do they always do that .. I’ve not looked back just a bit busy this end ..
Take care all !
Indeed .. it’s not a negative .. either the interview hasn’t come into its own yet .. or if it’s done what it intended to then it’s certainly reassured me ! Lol ..
Take care all !
WTP .. scancell isn’t on that many radars.. RG interview only has had 471 views ..
.. which actually is one of the fewest viewing figures of any of the media regarding scancell done to date …?
Fascinating .. Looks like only those following these bulletin boards have noticed it to date?
Take care ..
Violin , interesting piece .. Lofas, it’s mostly stuff that’s been covered before .. mRNA promising but complex and expensive .. however, I did find this section interesting..
“ Identifying the right targets
Creating a cancer vaccine requires taking samples of the patient’s tumour and healthy tissue, sequencing the DNA and RNA and comparing how these sequences vary between the cancerous and healthy cells to try to identify problem mutations that can be used as antigens or vaccine targets.
This is where the challenge begins: how do you identify the most relevant mutations that are really driving the cancer, a process that is notoriously easier said than done?
“The genomics in the tumour cell are chaotic,” says Prof Alan Melcher from the Institute of Cancer Research. “There’s stuff turning into protein that shouldn’t be turning into protein and there are other places where big chunks of DNA just either get dropped out or inserted or turned around. But at the moment, what we’re missing is how you predict the antigens that matter.””
Of course .. scancell has identified some and patented their use in treating cancer ..
Take care and fingers crossed for a good week !
Hi berm .. I found the thread after some looking and it does say ‘immune response’ .. but this was from the trial entry tests so it looks like one of the ‘counts’ didn’t meet the entry requirements.. heartbreaking news for the patient and a reminder of just how difficult this whole business can be!
Take care ..
Vaccines act on the immune system .. so if you don’t have an effective one they won’t work ..
Can you imagine the effect on the trial results if you included patients you knew it wouldn’t work in ? This is very tough for patients who don’t fit the criteria but this is the result of knowledge and experience ..
Take care ..
