Great to see you back Bob.
Puzzles me how the board allows the beast aka horns to continue polluting, quite a sad sick individual!

Thank you Troajan, really appreciated that you put all this together - just in time for my 76th LOL!

@MBleu357,
Guess this coffin dodger gets the title as I hit the 76 mark beginning November - quite fit for an old git and still have my hair and warped humour - but less of my favourite subject.
I subscribe to the Corporal Jonesy "Don't Panic" attitude as I bought into Wres as a long term venture after burn out from the Drakelands (Wolfe) debacle. I will be topping up when I have the readies ready.

-> safetyman,
Agreed, the current silicon types are not the greenest tech on the planet - but - there is a new
(relatively so) kid on the block - I quote from their newsletter -:
Solar cells are currently the most prominent perovskite application, as synthetic perovskites are recognized as potential inexpensive base materials for high-efficiency commercial photovoltaics. Perovskite PVs are constantly undergoing research and improvement, going from just 2% in 2006 to over 20% today. Experts forecast that the market for perovskite PV will reach over $200 million by 2022.
**** End Quote *****
Relatively simple compounds of calcium, titanium and oxygen, formulation isn't over complicated - down side is not so good with moisture but that is with all photovoltaic.
Rapid advances in new technology can catch us all unaware - memory resistors will be the new game changer for computing bringing an end to the spinning rust hard drives and even replacing the state of the art SSDs
It's a hard task trying to keep ahead of all the new developments - just look at the price drop in a few years on high def television - me, I'm saving the pennies for the Black Friday event end of November hoping to bag a 75 incher.
Good luck to all LTH.

Not often I post but this is a subject close to me. Volvo and others are already researching and investing in Dimethyl Ether as a simple replacement for heavy vehicle diesel with very little modification to existing engines. Very little particulate emission and yes there are the dreaded Carbon oxides but in lower amount plus water vapour as there are 6 atoms of hydrogen to each DME molecule. It even has a higher cetane value than diesel so increased efficiency - downside it is comparable to LPG as it is a gas and needs liquefying.
Biomass can be converted into DME or convert existing fossil fuels via synth gas also - there are a terrific number of plus points for DME as an interim solution to transport requirements prior to the holy grail of battery technology giving the bang for the buck necessary - sadly we need intelligent politicians to even contemplate what direction we need to go,
Sorry board - one of my hobby horses but currently enjoying Shank's pony and concession card.
Big hassle with hydrogen is it leaks/permeates everywhere - even through solid metal especially at pressure and the cost of making it is not a cheap option.
Apologies again for off topic.

Missed you Hbob, great to have you back and firing on all cylinders - i wondered if you were responsible for the recent balmy weather - fingers crossed no late frosts!

Being polite, I believe the better definition ending in "tist" for your behaviour on this board is obscurantist - though there are more salty words that cover the definition of "OBNOXIOUS"

You've done it again Hbob, mentioning the wonky eye reminded me of Helen Shapiro - such a deep almost gravelly voice, she was gorgeous and I lusted as young men do but that aspect is now a fond memory.
As part of my wishes to all for the New Year as I recently became reacquainted with the Desiderata:- first three sections quoted here are:-
Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexatious to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.

I recommend this to everyone as it is part of my ethos in living a happy life - which I wish for all you LTH - Keep the faith.

@ Tonlin,
Another blast from the past - Capstan Full Strength, Wow, nowadays you would need a full hazmat suit to walk into a room with a packet complete with the very grizzled sailor picture on the packet front. My parents saved the vouchers from I think Embassy - joke at the time was "if you saved up for 20 years you could get an iron lung" - times and perceptions have changed as we've become aware of the health risk.

Farage, Boris, Rees Mogg, sorry Franny - Farage came across to me like a Dell-Boy holding a pint in his mitfer and pretending to be a man of the people whilst screwing his allowance from being an MEP, damned hypocrisy. Needed the brown paper bag when he brown nosed up to Trump - ditto when Boris followed suit.
God save us from the deluded Eton bum boys thinking they can rule us all with their outdated dreams of British Empire /end rant.
Sorry board - way off topic concerning the slow motion train wreck of the Nasty Party.

Damned roller coaster yo-yoing, more ups and downs on SP than a bride's nighty, one of the unsettling characteristics of the AIM market - don't panic Mr Mainwaring (or was it Captain Mannering??)
Hopefully it will smooth out by Friday.

Blast from the past of the chippie and the smell of the fish and chips wrapped in newspaper with the vinegar dripping through. The bottles of pop (Double E) of the black screw top with orange rubber band as gas tight - three old pence on bottle return. Crikey, over 60 years and still a vivid memory, favourite pop was Dandelion and Burdock and no telly then, had other time waste activities!

LSE gave a glitch - thought LSE had jumped the gun and disabled WLFE chat, not the first time that has happened - sigh!

Just announced that the nominated broker has resigned. relevant note as follows:-

In a perfect world - possibly, but I doubt that it is going to be feasible. IMHO the off take arrangements will have to be less onerous than the ones WLFE signed up to - and the processing equipment will need some serious assessment as to being fit for purpose. Deep pockets with possibly a bond escrow for the necessary reinstatement after the mine comes to it's end of life.
With so many other alternative suppliers coming on stream without Hemerdon's clay problems and ore with better percentage content it is quite unlikely (IMHO) to ever be viable - very sad to say that as that collapse is a devastating catastrophe for the local economy besides the private investors who have lost so much, myself included.
The next couple of months after the accountants/receivers have completed counting the beans may find some recovery prospect. I would love to know the response from RCF to suddenly holding all the debt and a big hole - interesting if they are the only likely participant in any future development.
Sad sad days for what was a first mine venture in the UK.

@ Hartlepoolbob,
LOL! Brought to mind the skit by Jasper Carrot with his encounter with moles in the lawn, shooting with a shotgun then the sound of the flashing Blue Lights - haha! I really like the 🐰🐰🐰🐰 bouncing around your message - very droll!
Thanks for brightening up this dismal day.

Courtesy of Douglas Adams:-
The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people."
"Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy."
"I did," said Ford. "It is."
"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't people get rid of the lizards?"
"It honestly doesn't occur to them," said Ford. "They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates to the government they want."
"You mean they actually vote for the lizards?"
"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."
"But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?"
"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard," said Ford, "the wrong lizard might get in. Got any gin?"
Hope this raises a smile or two.
WD43
More pain to follow following WLFE's collapse as whoever (if ever) takes over Hemerdon will have to provide assurance to the Environment Agency that the re-instatement of the country side and turning the pit into a tree lined lake as assured by WLFE in 2013 is fully funded for end of mine life. That requires some quite deep pocket and eliminates most contenders from taking the project over.
Sorry board as this is MVHO but if the APT price goes substantially higher then there is chance of a contender taking the risk after due diligence.
Big question is can the Hemerdon project return a profit from the current infra structure with fully recognising the problems with ore type.
I really hope that will happen as the disaster of it being mothballed will be a blight for generations and a larger catastrophe for the Plymouth area than it already is.
Anyone with further analysis please?
