Yes, legally, they’re covered. Morally, it’s a different story entirely imo.

I’ll be closing all my bets with them over the next few weeks/months (as markets allow) and will gradually move my £75k across to my ii trading/ISA accounts. As I said the other day, they have been getting gradually worse anyway, so time to withdraw my custom.

That’s not really point Soup. I have a contract with them which was that my bet would run till June! It’s like Ladbrokes saying they’ve decided not to pay out on Rangers winning league because they’ve taken too many bets on them and they look like they’ll win it.

At the very least they should see out existing contracts, rather than enforcing 100% margin (which you have to find in 4 days) AND forcing people to cash out early.

Agreed FFX. Scandalous they can get away with it. My 100k buy this morning was to replace my SB which I’ve just closed (didn’t cost me too much, but I have 3 other shares in this scenario as well).
Took me 10 mins to close my NFX SB as the cheeky fkrs would only let me out £200pp at a time. They want rid of us, but only if they can fk us one last time on the way out!!

100% Margin required on them by this Friday at 3pm!!

P.s. Billy. This might actually have a positive impact on the SP as people convert to shares rather than Spreads. Just depends how many shares IG hold (not that many I suspect) and whether they want to reduce as spreads close.

You can keep open till 29th March tho Billy, but 100% margin will be required from 3pm this Friday. Very annoying, particularly at this point in the CHAR proceedings.

Exactly SHC. This is a missive leap forward. I didn’t for one second think we would be at the stage where we are signing deals involving Front-End Design, Procurement Installation etc. We are way ahead of where I thought we’d be at, to be even considering this stuff at the moment..

Agreed FFX. I’m with IG for Spread Bets and stocks like this will be unaffected imo. They have stopped SBs on Crypto Currencies completely for retail investors (although this may a be a Govt directive) and also for SBs on Crypto stocks like ARB they have upped margin from 25% to 40% (for new positions). Run of the mill stocks like Pharma, O & G, Miners etc won’t change I don’t think.

Having said that I’m finding IG dreadful at the moment. I have 45 stocks on my watch list and 22 are currently Closing Only. WTF is the point if having a SB account where you can’t trade 50% of stocks. I wrote to them the other day and asked, in general, why so many, and specifically about CHAR and DEV which have been Closing Only for months. This was their reply :-
“ The two stocks mentioned are on closings-only because our broker's margin is too high. It is not feasible for us to offer them on leverage.”

Make of that what you will.

I emailed IG yesterday regarding why CHAR had been Closing Only on their platform for the last 6-8 weeks. This was their response.

So basically what they are saying is they are being charged a premium to buy shares in Chariot, because there are so few shares available imo. Any kind of buying pressure and this shoot straight past our recent high. For transparency, the other stock was DEV.

Obviously means EVERY trade will show as a sell. Buying is being actively discouraged here at the moment.

Advertised spread just opened up to 25% (biggest ever) 6.8p to 8.5p.
