Agree, never understood the viewpoint that a bio can't be bought out/partnered at any stage. If big pharma like what they see they will make a offer, IMO.

And you could argue the deal with GenMab and other mab partnerships already disprove this, again IMO.

I'm probably overthinking it but the timing of the BMJ article intrigues me. The article, dated the 6th, the talks about cancer vaccine solutions such as Scancells.

Professor Durrant would have been interviewed a while ago if those tumor reduction percentages/doses mentioned are anything to go by?

So was it just a concidence, i.e. they released it but then also just included the the new news of BioNtech/Uk gov collaboration?

@takestock - perfect summary, nothing really else needs to be said IMO.

UK gov showed during Covid that were never interested in supporting smaller UK bios and the smaller universities RE Covid vaccines. This is nothing new IMO, and therefore this is a bit of a non story.

IMO Scancell are better off in the short term without government involvement, i.e purely private money.

What is of interest is BionTechs already existing connection with Scancell. Plus Scancell seem to ahead in the race anyway. IMO.

No, I agree with you allan30 RE a straight takeover. Hence why in my somewhat tongue in cheek post, that I was referring to being out of the share for 12/18 months would take great confidence of a takeover not happening.

In that case surely an astute investor like you would sell up their very impressive 4x returns, make 4x elsewhere (because astute) and come back here in 12/18 months with their extra capital? Just IMO :)

That is a good point, you'd think Scancell will have made many of the appropriate big pharma connections now without the need for networking events anymore.

Plus less need to sell/publicise their wares now also perhaps.

Are Scancell attending? I can't see full agenda.

A very good point lofas, it does seem very stingy.
But what the headline shows is (IMO) that you'd think multiple big pharma's will be paying very close attention Scancell (and their like), and not just the currently associated names like BioNTech and GenMab.
