Something I've wondered about, although I have to admit I don't fully understand how voting rights would work regarding a buyout between LD, redmile, vulpes, shareholders, other institutions etc.

But regarding LD herself, whilst she has devoted her life to the science and will no doubt want to continue doing this in one way or another, we know she's retired from the university now, and perhaps she will want to reap the financial rewards from Scancell sooner rather than to enjoy now for herself and her family?

A strange analogy but recently lots of big name older music artists have sold their publishing rights/royalties to companies that specialise in this, so that they and their families reap maximum financially now.

Obviously scientists and the bio world are different but I'm sure still that people want to enjoy and secure their later years?

But yes, just a thought I've been wondering about, may not be especially relevant.

Just to add, whilst £4billion may have been an arbitrary number(?) it would still be very cheap/low compared to other relevant bio deals, just IMO.
