I was out on my bike yesterday and I stopped for a chat with an Openreach guy out running overhead cables. He said there was very strong backing for a strike but his fear was that there is so many non union staff these days that it would be difficult to win. Apparently many left the union 2 or 3 years ago over some issue which leaves it weak. Maybe BT has again looked at the numbers and decided this is the right time to act.

Could it have been a sell from earlier in the day when the price started to drop? Looks like £1.57 was about right at 8am.

Not sure that’s too accurate as I think the threat of a strike was much more recent.

Unrelated comment. Why does the LSE chart flatline so often? Very unreliable.

Fleccy. It was a union email and it relates to managers only. The CWU (non managers) situation has not changed as far as I know.

Maybe, just maybe BT expect the share price to be significantly higher in 5 years and don't want too many people taking up the offer and making a killing. If they are thinking that, I for one hope they're right.

Any chance there will be news on selling off a stake in Openreach before results day on 13th May? 2 months is a long time to wait for some SP propelling news.

Any views on what impact the governments announcement on the £1.5 billion for rural broadband coverage will have on the SP? Announcement is imminent apparently.

I had no idea how many homes there were in the UK so I had to look it up. Fibre to 2/3 of the homes in the UK doesn’t seem bad. I found that there are 29 million homes in the UK. The UK Government is committed to building around 1.5 million new homes by 2022 - and there are major plans for new housing in every part of the UK.

Velo, I believe you asked recently if there's was any reason why BT costs in Q4 might be higher than normal. I know there are a lot of people leaving this month, many with up to 24 month packages. Not sure if this really adds up to many millions though.

52week high - I believe so yes - On Thursday. Do Ofcom need to time their announcement like an RNS as it may be share price affecting or do they just blurt it out whenever they fancy?
