I did notice that there are 18 estimates for the 21/22 and 22/23 figures but only 10 estimates for the 23/24 figures. Is this likely to have skewed the figures?

From that article: “target price is between £3.60 and £2.35”. I thought one of the analysts has a price target of about £1, was it Polo? Maybe he’s come off the whacky baccy and started to talk some sense!!

Reading recent press coverage, each article seems to state different reasons why the share price dropped so much on Thursday. Can someone sum this up for me? It’s possible a combination of many things but the ones mentioned are: Only 7.7p divi, missing analysts targets, not happy with Openrreach/joint venture, lack of interest in the sale of BT Sport, poor revenue for next year and maybe a few other reasons.

Verizon has thrown in the towel on its digital media strategy with the cut-price sale of Verizon Media, a failure that’s bound to be food for thought for other telcos with digital media aspirations.

Maybe you’re right and BT know they need to widen the audience to be able to keep the European football.

I wonder if the analysts part of this simply wall street report is based on the analysts estimates in BT Consensus report due out tomorrow or on the previous one. If, as Velo expects, that report is bullish then we may be worth more than 274p.

I guess we’ll find out in the morning what the important people think of it.

Not sure if this makes any difference but BT promised to look into allowing people who retire in the future to take the pre 2009 and post 2009 pensions separately. Post 2009 is based on career average. Well last week they announced that they would make it possible for people to move the post 2009 pension out of the BT pension scheme but keep the pre 2009 but in (or that’s how I read it). I’m guessing that most people won’t even look into this as they haven’t got a clue and I believe you must have taken financial advice but if people do take it out then presumably the liabilities will be reduced. About 20% of my pension is post 2009 so it’s quite a bit ( to me) but peanuts in the overall scheme of things.

How does the potential stake of £5B in Openreach affect the deficit? Will there be a guaranteed return that can wipe some of the deficit out? Presumably it will all become clear when results are released in May.

Looks like it’s the dreaded drift downwards these days. Hopefully the consensus will bring some cheering comfort.
