I have just been reading a book about Churchill/WWII and even in the midst of our "darkest hour" in 1940,Lord Beaverbrook, the recently appointed Minister of Aircraft Production, came up against walls of bureaucracy sheltering armies of Civil Servants with little empires to protect as if they didn't even know there was a war on.
Nothing changes it seems.

Sure is-down 20% in 2 days and beginning to look like the usual absence of info slide rather than MM manipulation.
Having said that still 500% up on this time last year despite our rather "on the fringe of Covid " situation (Would that it were "Beyond the Fringe!!) if that is not a most positive indicator then I don't know what is.

An ex-colleague did business with China for years. His favourite story was him going back to his hotel on a Friday evening full of the milk of human kindness having "secured" a contract only to find on the following Monday morning that the other party had changed its mind and went down the path of "if you're not happy, sue us". Fat chance.

Thanks Jaffjoon but I note you refer to "further" criminal activity. This infers they have already committed a crime and been convicted accordingly when nothing is further from the truth. Granted a FORMER employee has been tried and found guilty but nearly 2 years down the line he has yet to be sentenced AND it has yet to be proven that Petrofac per se was involved in the alleged bribery. That the SFO is still struggling to prove this after well over three years+++ is significant.
Also it is scandalous that the SFO should use the fact that the company is nearly on its knees as a lever ( some would call it blackmail) to bring it to the table and enforce a DPA.
The whole thing stank from the start ( witness the fact that 2 FI's increased their short positions substantially the day before the SFO investigation was announced and have never been investigated)) and still does.

At what price do you think he would be tempted to sell up and lose his "baby" to a big pharma with its massive R&D facilities, conditional upon him being employed to run with it under his supervision and for a share of any profits that ensued.

At 5p he would pocket around £2.65 million less any CGT and so on.

OR is he likely, to want to run with it himself and go for the potential megabucks AND the professional kudos?

A lass I know of works in China and apparently when Covid first appeared there all the rich gits buzzed off to Spain taking the gift with them. You may recall that when it took off in Europe, Spain was one of the worst hit countries-what a surprise.

By the by I was informed yesterday by a lady who works in China that as soon as the virus raised it ugly head a year ago, all the Chinese rich gits upped and buggered off to Spain. I think I am right in saying they were one of the worst hit countries at the start......!
