You're right JG, bad news travels fast over there at the monment, and over here. We need a let up in inflation an a return to decent growth to help silence the gloom merchants but realistically we may have to put up with this till later in the year. Nasdaq is a better measure on tech stocks for US/global markets and it was down nearly 5% yesterday but despite that, petrofac stock help up well. The show goes on! :)
You called it Brochrock well done. Dont let Drakey steal your thunder, he said bouncing around! :)
Yes Johny I do often wonder to the point of self flaggelation at times but it comes down to what price brokers offer the shares at and a large buy doesnt necessaily effect that. I did have a chuckle the other day when someone suggested that the price may have changed due to a lot of people on here taking Drakey's advice. No offence at all to Drakey but as I've said before us guys on here are the micro-organisms of the investment world! Good weekend to all.
....I'll gladly give you it though Ant. If we round it to the nearest penny you were dead right. :)
Sorry Ant, on 5th April I came back to you ....
" You're right Deano we are a bit trapped and there are some decent scraps and fights going on for that very reason. Why the hell did we fall all the way back after the contract win down under? I'd been congratulating Ant on calling the low point last week but I'd now like to clain another new one of 102.9 earlier this morning and I'm smashing up the office mean time. Who else wants a fight"
Less bad feeling floating around now though..:)
Agreed Paddy and no one really wants to be dumped on, metaphorically or in any other sense. I'm maybe niggling when I mention that people are keen to predict the rises, less keen to explain the falls but I've given my own thoughts. Others may be right with ideas around everhang etc. To suggest that this stock suffers from the pump and dump treatment is just plain wrong though...IMO :)
Barely worthy of repy but use your intuition. Recent large rises in Oct and March were a result of end of SFO debacle and lifting of ADNOC ban respetively. The price fell back on both occasions for a number of reasons, not least the fact that real recovery in a company like petrofac takes time. If you look now, the rise is based on contract wins and what will inevitably be an inmpproving financial position, all bouyed by a very real increase in demand.
The difference between successfulon investment and being dumped on often does come down understanding and intuition. You seem like someone who'll end up dumped on unless you get the grey matter functioning.
Carrots can I go back to what I was aluding to last week ie there would be more credence to people's predictions if they can explain the very large drops in the share price post the two very large rises in the last six months or so (which were in themselves explainable). Sorry but to come on and suggest "over £4.00 in a year is NOT out of the question" is pure guesswork on your part, indeed outlandish speculation! PFC is actually a bit of a wounded animal despite what you say about all the "OBVIOUS" external factors. No-one's denying these but debt, cashflow, investment capital are more real issues for the company to name a few. For me if the SP lands around 150 to 160 p second half of this year then great, and onwards thereafter. I'm a self confessed boring old git but we should be mindful of daft suckers who read your speculation and end up with crazy expectations!
Hey Balls-of-S
I hope we're not expecting this board to go all nicey nicey? I'm with you though in rejoicing in seeing some of the nutters have disappeared!
A question that's been on my mind for you,Drakey, Poker, anyone: When the news came through on the fairly low fine from the SFO last year the price jumped to over 150p and when Borris flew over and successfully lobbied ADNOC recently, the priced jumped to a similar level. Why on both occasions did it drop right back to nearly a quid ?
...sh-t sorry for mentioning the SFO !
...OK Chancellor Scholz, who-ever but some movement today and no thanks to the SNP!
Please stop embarassing us with this nationalist clap-trap, we know who keeps the assets and its the UK! Do your flag waving elsewhere and please get off this board! You one of "the 45" ? The 45% who lost the vote, some idiotic reference to the 1745 Jacobite rebellion which was equally misguided. What now, you want to go back into Europe and let Macron and Merkel have a major say in our affairs again? Its over, you're falling in the polls and the longer you hang onto this lost cause the worse it gets for Sotland with wee Jimmy Crankie pretending to be in charge of things! Fan Dabby Dosey...not!
Hud' on the noo Jimmy, I may not agree with Ian C posting stuff irrelevant to petrofac but you cant go branding our entire nation as having a ****** streak. You also seem genuinely dumb in that you've called yourself but the title you intended for your post! Here's some news for you in a much shorter timeframe than you suggest...You're a dum dum!
Please sound off into the wind instead of preaching irrelevant stuff. Here's someting relevant to petrofac.

....12 month medians of 130's I should say with 12 month high ends better by a margin and lows ends higer than where we are now ie emerging as clear buy now as you say
Thanks Poker for restoring sense to my ramblings. Was actually looking through a range of analysts yesterday and they're becoming more consitent with mid term targets around 130s.
You're right Deano we are a bit trapped and there are some decent scraps and fights going on for that very reason. Why the hell did we fall all the way back after the contact win down under? I'd been congratulating Ant on calling the low point last week but I'd now like to clain another new one of 102.9 earlier this morning and I'm smashing up the office mean time. Who else wants a fight...c'mon Poker, put 'em up, put 'em up...!
...IMO. Contracts like this are about a healthy increase in garaunteed revenue. Really imortant for the balace sheet and confidence if future tendering as Petrofac emerges from its difficulties. Tony99 it looks like a decent lift in the price to allow you out of this stock and off this board?
Shame no-one was able to look up Dun & Bradsteet for PFC, I cant as we no longer pay for access at my company but for sure the rating will be improving. I kinda see why people want to call it a Dog Stock when it's fluttering either side of the penny share mark but those of us who know this company will be hanging in. :)

Thanks RB apreciate the reply. Onwards and upwards! :)
Hey Alto your advice is wasted when it comes to an old fart like me mate. I was merely asking whether along with the completely incomprehensible calculation you put up at the start of this post, you had noted the level of debt in the recent results publication and the need to service this debt. This will go some way to explaining what many believe shoud have been a more significat pick up over the last month or so. I take Paddy's point but prices can change rapidly as a result of external events and market/sector sentiment, not just the winning of contracts. Paddy also right in saying you buy, you sell, you make your own calls but dont whinge when it doesnt all come up roses!
Hmmm, a non answer I'm afraid Ant. We've watched this stock stagnate and fall disappointingly low for too long now hence my deliberations, should I stay or should I go. We've seen predictions of all sorts but the question for me is why this stock hasnt picked up a lot more than we're seeing. My own view that during increased tendering expected in this sector, interest rates are likely to continue to rise in an attempt to curb inflation. This wil be happening during the key times when Petrofac would be expected to deliver on projects whilst carrying a high debt burden as we noted in recent dispatches.
