Egg on faces Oiltap? Don`t pop the champagne corks yet! `Churlish`to remind you but, less than 3 months ago and following the Sandfire deal, GLR`s SP shot up by around 35% in a day (to around 1.47p). Unfortunately, this was then followed by an almost constnt (and dramatic) fall Let`s wait and see what the next 3 months bring.
Come on Oiltap! You must be bright enough to recognize that I used a potato peeler as a light-hearted suggestion regarding your patented item(s), which are clearly important to you - and there is nothing wrong with that.. However, I do hope that your patent remains financially fruitful for you, because, as you noted in the last few days, you "continue to top up in GLR - simple as". Desparate measures or blind faith? It`s beyond me as, seemingly, your faith doesn`t quite gell with a good number of investors who are jumping the GLR ship, one way or another. But then, perhaps they are not lucky enough to have the benefit of Oiltap`s mental capacity. and analyrical skills to spot a winner. But folks, in GLR`s present case, neither do I !
Oiltap: Regarding your claim that you are sure that you can outpace me in Mental Capacity, I suppose that is because I mentioned to DC (and purely to counter one of his comments) that I had had a good education. I readily acknowledge, per se, that education in itself has little or nothing to do with mental capacity. But I do wonder how you have judged your mental capacity to be so sure of it? Some months ago, you made some disparaging comment about education, and I sensed at the time that you had a chip on your shoulder, perhaps regarding graduates.. So, I wonder now how you can be so sure about your mental capacity? A rhetorical question because I suspect that there is little doubt that you have taken an IQ test and achieved a high score. But Oiltap, assessing mental capacity is MUCH much more complex than just taking the IQ test. Indeed, in considering overall mental prowess, mental AGILITY becomes a vital `ingredient`within the mix and, possibly I could have you beaten there. But, apart from you, who cares anyway?!
I have to admit though that I coulld not compete with part of your list of bragging rights which you included a few months ago for reasons best known to you. You noted that you had a couple of patents against your name on your design(s). It would be churlish of me to add here that I suppose even a potato peeler could be patented but, hey ho, I must be churlish! Me? - I have never patented anything - but then, I haven`t needed to. My bragging rights then - and included here not to `anything you can do, I can do better` but to give you some alternative indicator of mental capacity/agility. Well, for about 8 years or so, HMG delegated responsibility, (via the MOD) to me for a VERY expensive piece of `kit` called WE177B. Overall, that responsibility entrusted and required me to deliver said piece of `kit` to a place and time (to within a minute) as directed by the powers that be.
So Oiltap, having seemingly fallen into the trap of `anything you can do, I can do better`anyway, all I would say that, during my working life, I had sufficient capacity to cope with a disperate variety of tasks in hand and , more importantly, sufficient mental agility to always be effective.
PS: I was telling little fibs when I mentioned having a butler - and I don`t even have a Bentley either. It was just a lighthearted end - to make you smile! But, as for claims viz your `car velocity`, . . . . I doubt it!
Oiltap: That `statement` (as you call it) was tongue in cheek and meant to be a somewhat humouous end to my last. But then, I suspect that there is little humour in your life for you to have noticed! However, for one who occasionally comes out with fatuous comments, you therefore need to be particularly careful about calling the kettle black.
Fatuous comments? Just one example. Before this current GLR debacle (for which, in my view, Bird must take a fair share of blame) you may recall that I was again critical of the man. You explained away my criticism "because I was jealous of his wealth". Your rationale was silly in the extreme because, firstly, you had no real idea of Bird`s total wealth, and, similarly, you had no clue whatsoever as to how much I may, or may not have had stashed away in my bank accounts (Coutts naturally!) , property(s), and via H-L`s management services.
As for your view that I was sounding silly and pompous in my last, a rather threadbare observation without any substance.
I was purely responding to counter DC`s equally fatuous assumptions about my background. I can say with certainty that friends and colleagues who have known me for many years would likely variously describe in me a whole host of qualities or otherwise - but `pompous` - nah! Frankly, if you had bothered to look at both sides of the DC/VB recent `argument` then even you Oiltap ought to have been perceptive enough to form a rational, balanced opinion.
PS: It will disappoint you to know Oiltap that I don`t need a nurse. My butler, a long-standing and faithful manservant, looks after my every need! In fact, even now, James is presently warming up the Bentley on what is a very grey morn here in The Dales!
Well DC: You have certainly let your imagination run riot and, I suspect, there could be 2 reasons why you feel the need to stretch your creative thought processes. Firstly, you appear to take personal issue with anyone who doesn`t tow the general line and agree with the typical, oft repeated view that GLR, (led by its CEO),still remains well-situated to become a real `earner`. Secondly of course, I also think it likely that your negative, unfounded comments are a shallow attempt to ingratiate yourself further to others on this Board.. "Aren`t I clever folks, knocking VulcanBob the Non-believer"!!!
Like it or not DC, with me what you see is what you get. I have never needed, (as you seem to suggest), to hide behind a facade here in an attempt to impress folks who I have never met and, likely as not, never will.. Whilst it will undoubtedly spoil your jaundiced views of VB, it may surprise you to know that I had the benefit of a good, red-brick education. I mention this because it was then followed by a (to me) VERY satisfying profession which, although I say it myself, did perhaps develop/ broaden some intellect along the way.
Life delinquency? Another irrational view of yours but, nonetheless, I think not - not even a speeding fine. My `job` throughout my life, and as mentioned above, would have been a non-starter if there had been any hint of even one jot of delinquency during my formative years.
Changing tack, please give me some examples of where I "as usual I have taken someone else`s comments" (ie, repeated them). As for "making weak statements based on nothing" - Hmm! May I suggest "based on nothing" because you either disagree with them or don`t understand them . . . . . .ah well, so be it DC.
And finally, I hope that you will now knock these pleasantries on the head DC. You have spoken and I have replied. To continue would be tedious. Moreover, who knows, I could perhaps open my knapsack and bamboozle you with some intellect I keep stored away!
kwadoku: Your 13:02 comment today. A simple resume about our man Bird - spot on!
There are just a few of us who have serious reservations on this Board about Bird. The mass ought to look back and re-read the detail of their initial comments when they first joined this Board. Whilst there has been some very informed and well-thought out research and comment - such contributions have also often been coupled with eulogistical, hopeful dreams about `tommorow`. Oh, . . . . and whilst also extolling their implicit faith in the apparent certainty that "Good Old Colin" will pull out the rabbit.
HD: Perhaps you are being a tad hard!. Apparently, Sylvia only gets* £37K per year out of the GLR coffers for her efforts as GLR`s Manager of Corporate/Investor Relations. Mere pocket money, and she will be expected to dress very well in such a prestigeous position!
* NB - Some might say `gets` rather than `earns`!

Is anyone by any chance going to Johannesburg in the near future?!

howezap: I am amazed that you can possibly be aware that I have made poor investment decisions. I must speak to Hargreaves Landsdown regarding what must be an obvious leak regarding my account! More to the point, some 3-4 years ago I made quite a killing with GLR which even then was under Bird`s stewardship. However, later there was something significant which raised a quizzicle interest about Bird himself.
Incidentally, I am not trying to knock any investors confidence, but I do feel it important to highlight a problem with XTR (and GLR for that matter) apropos who is commanding the ship.
As for the racecourse deposit - I hope that the investors get a worthwhile `taste` - but, I so wonder.
Steve4077: I can assure you that I am me and have never used another pseudonym/avatar. However, I have always had extreme reservations about one C Bird (er . . CEng . . . etc, etc!) for a whole host of reasons.
Andrew4444: Your last in which you highlight the Xtract response (7 Oct 2020) was not in response to the Lusaka Times article which I highlighted. That article was published over one year earlier in 2019. Nowhere has Bird or the XTR heirarchy ever refuted Bird`s association with that miscreant Shawi Fawaz and the associated link with XTR. Out of interest Andrew, what is it in the article which YOU would refute! What is it in the article which you would regard as untrue? I have no doubt whatsoever that the Lusaka Times lawyers would have checked the article for accuracy before allowing it to be published. Moreover, no sign of Bird ever starting preceedings to sue . . .etc!
Steve4077: Whilst you accuse Fulmar29 with a `stalkiing attitude` towards Bird, you also add that you "like Colin as a person". I assume therefore that you know him personally. However, I wonder if you are aware that there has been an extraordinary amount of published, most disagreeable news that shows Bird in a less than savoury light with his association with that mega-gangster Shawi Fawaz . The artice below extracted from The Lusaka Times includes, inter alia, significant mention of Xtrata.

Well DC - Bird hasn`t got the sh*t done here yet. Go back a year or so and look forward to today. How many times was the big event imminent? How many times was GLR predicted to be a multi-bagger?
By the way, I just included just a taste of Bird`s association with that unsavoury character Shawi Fawaz. Your description of `Dodgy Dealing` is the understatement of the year. `Unscrupulous` doesn`t even fit the bill. And are you convinced that Bird`s `modus operandi` and effort is purely for the shareholders benefit?
