RE: RNS1 Feb 2024 08:47
Problem is the Australian politicians and the Industry are not on the same page, PM telling them want's more gas for the domestic market but also want's to maintain world leading export position BUT at the same time putting restrictions in place on the players. Meg had a big piece in the papers not so long ago, throwing her rattle out of the pram, not the only
ceo to do so. He can't have it both ways, more gas = develop more to replace what will be drained, can not replace them if he and his ministers restrict expansion/development.
Good for us, as if they can't do that exploration/expansion on/offshore Australia, their companies will have to get it from other area's like TL Waters and beyond.
Wants more for growing domestic market, so told those working offshore Victoria, go for it, increase to maintain supply to the East Coast domestic market, then put dampers on others, other than increasing production at currently developed fields, they will be depleted quicker, then what do they replace it with, if curbing others developments.
Sure his voters will love, the prospect of increasing foreign based imports, bumping up their utility bills and their own deposits stay undeveloped, unless they are in the greener group, Hydrogen. Helium and Ammonia.
The longer they delay, the sooner the squeeze will come on exports to Japan and co.......
Does seem a crazy situation, now given Barossa the go ahead after courts delays but how does it fit in with the supposedly greener agenda, some of its testing samples, came out crazy high carbon ,up to 50%
Politicians, can't do anything with or without their , non sector professional input π
