Prediction please Sunds? I'm bleeding paper losses :-(

TalkingboutWillis, yes... when it shoots up, it will rocket and you could be left out if trying to average down ; need a crystal ball ( like Sunds) as to when this will happen but it will.

Lets see what the IAG rollercoaster brings today ; breaching 400 by end of the day would be good. Oil rising again a bit even with Trump assurances, so who knows? GLA

Does that mean that IAG may bounce tomorrow? Delta etc are doing ok today.

Retirement ; same as me .... came out day before results( about to quit this and spend my profits) and got tempted to go in big on results day ...at 450.

Retirement ; since the start of the war, all the USA airlines have not tanked as much as IAG ; for instance, last 5 day comparison we are down about 14-15% but Delta only 7-8%?

Tomski, Many thanks for the words of encouragement. I definitely will keep holding, but I wish I had the skill to be able to average down without getting scorned by guessing the dips and spikes wrong. I'd love to be able to go in and out intraday confidently. Sitting on £20k paper loss since Friday morning, when I bought back in.

Shengis, totally understand what you mean ; emotion is hard to control as I have the same problem.

Wizzard ; good point. I think a lot of investors are trying to cash in extra by day trading their main holding to try to take advantage of the dip ; I have no guts to try this as I always get it wrong and end up worse off rather than average down.

Retirement ; same ...... infact , i came out a day before results day ( wanting to call it a day after 5 years of stress) but on the day, after 464 hit and it initially dipped, I got tempted and went back in when on initial dip to around 450. Now, we just have to hold tight ; I daren't try to average down (by coming in and out) and be left out if suddenly shoots up whilst out as it could very well do. Hold tight is my decision.

Sunds must be making more millions ; sell high and buy low ALWAYS. I couldn't sell on open so sitting on paper losses of £15k since buy in on friday morning at 450.

Aspers, good shout. I think you're right ; sit this out without causing more of a mess.

But people like LCFC John and I ; we will hold long term but do we bail in the short term ( to get back in lower ) to limit short term profit loss / bring the average break even down ? what to do on monday?

It's such a hard decision LCFC, yes we can afford to wait but in the meanwhile do we bail to get back in lower or will it backfire ( as it has done for me in the past when come out and too late to get back in so a double whammy ), as this SP sometimes does weird things and spikes suddenly when waiting for lower prices. Anyway, off to the KP soon ; big 3 points needed.

But thinking take the limited loss 1st thing monday and buy back later in the day when SP lower so that the average break even ( friday break even) is lower for the recovery? So by the end of monday, still in, but will lower losses?

Is it not better to sell at whatever you can get and then get back in later when the SP stabilises ?

The SP will tank badly but how low will it go? I'm all in with a very big holding ; already £9k lost profits on friday ; thinking just sell up on monday morning and sit on the lost profits for now. What to do ?

Sunds, but it's not that easy for all of us ; you seem to always get it right with sell near the top and buy back near the bottom ; even the top finacial guys wouldn't be successful EVERYTIME like you are ?

Dayt, I know that feeling ; I got out at 450 the other day and saw this morning that 464 hit and so on way down went back in at 454 thinking that 450 would be maintained and 480 would come today ; I am £9k down ; I wish i had stayed out but we don't all have crystal balls like Sunds ; I just want to break even (454) and leave this share behind. :-(
