Have been through many places but never Russia. My father spent time there on three occasions and spoke of the hardship endured by folk particularly in rural communities. Conditions present day are probably worse. Also had an uncle, fluent in Russian, in the Foreign Office.

The horrors in Ukraine are distressing. The English-speaking victim accounts on BBC News24 are equally so. I regard many of the young folk as a big advance on anything I was able to accomplish.

PGMs tell a very clear story. No need for anyone to keep plugging it. Unfortunately I'm biased owing to familiarity with the Bushveld and Great Dyke.

Whilst I might be doing okay on seven other stocks my greatest hope is to see HMI doing really well.
Certification is a major step in any country and there is no reason why the product can not get traction across the continent. Packaging translation into Spanish is an obvious step.

Really good to see IOG is gaining traction. Having spent working years in a country where strategic resources and their exploration were critical UK gas finds/development are essential. Very pleased to see the company perhaps finally turning the corner.

I have a couple of separate Canadian sources and don't spend a lot of time listening to Shubham Garg's webinars. They can last several hours. He has been holding one this afternoon with an in-depth study of PTAL and GTE.

More importantly there is another meeting tomorrow with Alexander Stahel at 11h00 Mountain Time. I recommend PTAL holders to join in. Becoming a member is not necessary; you can listen in.

We have entered a compellingly interesting period. Next week I shall be rejigging some holdings one of which will be JSE.

Without making ridiculous projections - as JPM has repetitively done with eg. gold - I can not see Brent stopping @ $120 . . . unless Putin & paymasters suddenly have a moment of sanity. Offhand I'd say Russia will treat Ukrainian cities in the same way they did Aleppo. There will be no reparations simply because Moscow will be bankrupt. I have known several Hungarian, Czech and Rumanian refugees from 1960 to the present. It is at times such as these of the reminder of just how cruel some people east of the Urals are and will remain so.

n_mike - As you seem to have a good grasp/handle on HMI I went through some of your posts plus those of others. I have neglected the subject far too long which is inexcusable considering I used to tramp around Langebaan in my prime. The rock product there was widely used up by/until 1994 when much of it was exhausted.

Comparatively Arapuá is infinite and a superior natural product. On the other hand I know very little about Brazil and will have to be guided by others. Yet I know about Kwazulu-Natal sugarcane and am absolutely certain BM et al. can make inroads into the sector even without much growth in the coffee plantations.

I do not have your big holding but will hang in and give it my best shot.

After missing more than one entry point I have finally launched into HMI.
It perhaps gives me license to chip in with the odd comment.
I regret to see too many treat the stock as a daily trading platform.
The company deserves more LTHs.
