Mick.
An interesting way to look at the future possibility is to imagine that the technology was in service last November / December in all major city's, airports, port and transit hubs around the world.. The virus would have been picked up early in Wuhan, then at Chinese transit hubs, airports etc - giving out an alert. However, more reassuringly anyone arriving from say Wuhan / China and arriving at an international airport - say Heathrow - would instantly ( less than an hour), of getting on the plane , raised the alarm that a harmful virus was on board and destined for a particular country -at this point, this would set off a higher level response - possibly cancelling the flight / a quarantine on arrival.
in London any plane arriving with this status , would be quarantined along with passengers, i guess.
If only a few country's used the technology they could still insist that all airliners destined for UK, say have this technology, and it could be regulated and monitored from UK.
If its true that we may be in an era where we self test every morning and have a covid passport then we will definitely want to be assured that going to the local cinema, match, concert . flight is also covid secure. just some thoughts.
If the barriers to entry are very high, the company's involved in this technology should do very well.
