The big players certainly have a lot more information, insight and research on listed companies. They can see more clearly through the waves of sentiment that ebb and flow daily across the market. There's some skulduggery going on in financial markets but, though it's comforting to think so, most of the movement is not deliberate or fixed.

There are many opportunities for us private investors to exploit if we research enough ourselves..

Treacle, I don't think the drop was deliberate. Just that many misinterpreted the value of the company and folded when in fact the long term picture for Ocado is very bright. Costs are increasing for every company unfortunately. The increase in costs does start grocery companies focussing though on reducing labour costs and efficiency, which is when Ocados solutions become very attractive..

Great story Brisk, hope you can post more on the board in future. I've followed Ocado avidly from the outside. V interesting to hear something about the inside story of the company.

Recent dip created a great buying opportunity as distressed PIs sold out and those interested in the long term view bought in. The new tech upgrade has opened up a whole new spectrum of opportunity for Ocado imo.

Can you explain further SFH? Can't ignore the fact Ocado has had warehouse fires. Features such as that the new robots are much lighter means they are much less prone to causing a fire in future. When boundaries are pushed mistakes can happen. Not learning from them would be a huge mistake but Ocado has evolved its safety procedures and tech after each incident..

There have been fires at Ocado CFCs. Many safeguards were put in place after the first fire which meant that the second fires damage was very limited. Mishaps do happen when a company experiments and pushes the boundary of what is possible. The new tech is far less prone to fire. Much of the reimagined tech can be retrofitted into existing CFCs, notably the on grid robotic grid pick technology which is a great leap forward. The current CFCs will still fit in alongside the new CFCs. In time as the Ocado license holder in a given country you can then upgrade to the new grid and robots. It's quicker and cheaper to upgrade and install. Ocado of course support all their older technology as any quality hardware/software provide does.

There's great profits to come in the future. Happy to have hoovered up some shares early on today at 1226p. Great price for an oversold share...

Cheers, It's an interesting snippet that doesn't go into detail about how they are working the margin figure out. The great advantage of CFCs over MFCs is the far greater range they can offer the customer. Customers are demanding greater choice. MFCs can only handle a limited product range.

Ocado's new tech launch gives the grocery chain customer the choice to setup CFCs or MFCs. The new tech is very adaptable and builds out very quickly and at a cheaper cost. MFCs can work very well where grocery chains have excess land on their existing supermarket sites.

Much pain caused by the slide, for myself included. I've bought some more shares this morning. Losses have increased at Ocado but the tech is stand out.

All boils down to whether you believe new clients will sign in the months to come. I believe they will, and with more frequency, as a result of Ocados recent tech upgrade..

Gio, You said my views were wearing f'in thin. I would never say the same to you or anyone.

Alternative views on Ocado are great to read over and discuss. Done this countless times on this board and learnt much myself from it. It's my serious advice though - it's just my view - if anyone does not value the company they are invested in, and thinks the shares will fall further then selling can save a lot of pain. If you don't value Ocado now then if it falls you will simply sell out at a lower price. If you think Ocados tech is cutting edge etc then the share price may fall but you hold on as you can see a path for the share price to rise in the future as I do.

Again, the share price is low currently but who knows where it will be in the future. We could easily be in a low that will be laughed at in years to come as a magnificent buying opportunity. Also conversely Ocado could go bankrupt in years to come.

Stating disappointed views fair enough, and natural, but swearing and lashing out at others is schoolboy stuff..

Also, to add, if Ocados share price declines further Ocado may put their hand up and sound out a potential acquirer of the company or seek to enter a collaboration with another company that would ease their financing issues. I would guess that Ocado over time have been approached by many other companies and rebuffed them. They could reconnect with them to explore possibilities. Ocado may decide that they know where they are going with their tech but they need to be more financially secure to achieve their goal.

Of course all this is likely if you believe Ocados tech to be very valuable and central to the online grocery industry. If you believe Ocados tech isn't up to scratch then you may believe they will find no willing partners.

Gio, We all have our opinions but swearing at other posters and deriding them is very narrow minded. Yes my return has come down, yes I believe it will increase again in time. Absolutely, I would not deride the shorters, fair enough to them where they see opportunity. I cannot see why you still hold given your total lack of confidence in the company. When I feel that way I ditch the stock sharpish. It's very dispiriting holding something you do not value. My Ocado stock has fallen but you won't find me gaining short term happiness by stabbing other positive posters. We have no one to blame but ourselves, as you say.

Ocado shares are not finished, they could go back up easily over time or fall a lot further. This is the debate and by contributing our own analysis, whether it be bearish or bullish, we can learn more..

Thanks Wiscos. It's being able to read Ocado shares that has led me to my 350%+ return on them so far. I've seen and navigated through so many ups and downs over the 5+ years it's extraordinary. I believe there's opportunity currently..

I research and post my findings to provoke discussion to learn further. I've made a lot of money from Ocado shares. Very interested in capitalising on another good entry point to the shares if this volatility continues..

Others have said on the board today that they believe the selloff is overdone Gio. Only yourself, as a holder? would shoot down optimistic comments.

That looks a good buy DenFos, today's an overreaction in my book. Yes costs are creeping up but Ocados patented tech is getting better and better. There comes a point when grocers are sorely tempted to buy into Ocado solutions tech. It is now quicker to implement, less prone to fire and more adaptable to a grocery chains needs. Once a grocery chain buys they then have exclusive use of Ocados tech in that given country. More and more grocers will feel they want to be the Ocado Solutions partner rather than let a competitor use it.

If you believe more contracts are coming today's share price is very tempting..

The results were broadly and in line. The curveball has been dropped by the CFO in a analyst conference call that next year there will be £30 mill more tech costs than previously guided.

Disappointing, will be tuning into the results broadcast later at 9.30am to see if they provide more info on this..

Wiscos, Reuters are headlining with 12.1% drop in core earnings not EBITDA. This 12.1% drop has been caused primarily by the expected overseas CFC rollout costs

Agreed ClaudiuM, EBITDA was a fraction higher than analyst forecast consensus. I couldn't see anything very surprising in the results. Ocado are at an imbetween phase where the cost of overseas CFC rollout is high and a low level of these CFCs are open. It's reassuring to me that Ocado are opening the overseas CFCs on time with no operational issues as logistically there must have been so many issues in this covid year.

Sobeys have ordered a 4th CFC in Canada. Great to see existing clients ramping up their CFC capabilities.
