It is also the case that the lockdown was imposed to stop the NHS getting overwhelmed. A hospital in North London was apparently approaching that, and the Govt wanted to avoid the sort of pictures coming out of Spain and Italy of people dying in corridors. Labour would never ever have let that go. They panicked, and locked down. They were quite open that it was about protecting the NHS. And it is now clear that even a bad second wave won’t overwhelm the NHS. It honestly is not that clear how many lives have been saved by locking down. But the virus is still around, it’s not going anywhere, and Govt will never admit lockdown might not have been necessary. So they will buy good tests, in vast quantities. It will reassure the public, and hey, it ain’t their money, is it?

And as you point out, they were prepared to accept a higher than placing price for their shares. The price hit a recent low point on 16 June, the day of the conversion, but n the run up to it, and following the placing, the sp was broadly trending around £1.50

Sold too early. Still, a profit pocketed is a profit.

I’ve been trading in and out of this around my core holding to get my average down (below £1.50 now). On Weds it was very very difficult to sell any. I wanted to buy back in this morning, having made a bit over on HUR. They refused to quote me fir about half an hour, while being happy to buy my full holding at £1.135. Then they suddenly narrowed the spread, and offer to sell me some at £1.1328. I bought. And now they’ve opened the spread. A lot. It’s weird.

Because HUR was still behaving like a wild catter exploration play when it had actually evolved into a producer and it needed to be led by people who understood that and made decisions accordingly
