What do you feel will happen if rates reduce by say one percent during the next twelve months.I may be wrong , but at worse rates will remain the same inmv so the book value will eventually increase as these bonds mature and new ones are taken on.With the remaining bonds increasing in value if and when rates fall . inmo

Im working on the assumption that the dividend is going to end up about ten pence per year in total going forward. So inmv a dividend cut is innevitable. The big question now is will they bother to grow the company outside of the north sea. I am sure that i am not alone in not believing a word they say in terms of saying that they are looking overseas. Hopefully if this speel comes out of their mouths next week it is backed up by some firm evidence, Otherwise one may feel as an investor i am being duped. Not very good for a listed company inmv. Some may even say bordering on misleading. inmho

uk currently has around sixk million cigerette smokers. around ten percent of population

about forteen million people are under the age of eighteen. so if you say ten percent of these could end up smokers. then you have one point four million. imperial together with another major controls about eighty per cent of the market. so loosly we could say that going forward they will loose about five hundred thousand of new smokers . there is of course the element of older smokers dying which is around thirty thousand per year if we work on the forty percent of market assumption. so all in inmv they should easily be able to absorb this. we then have future generation products that should also fill a gap. inmo

Let's hope that Phoenix do not seek advice from the Barclays Muppets going forward. I wouldn't be surprised if they are facilitating some kind of deal with a foreign entity. Where they either take this over or become a major shareholder. Inmo.

It's not so much corruption,but the whole UK market is geared up for shorters. You only have to look at where the FTSE index stands against the us for example. Our ethos has gone not only with investing,but within the working world inmv.

We are now a nation of can't do as opposed to can do. This has transpired into the investment world where large investors would rather sell than buy.

No wonder companies such as shell are anticipating leaving London for New York

These so called anaylists amaze me. The reason inmv is the constant fluctuation in gilt yields with our wonderful gvmnt bowing to the us once again in regards to interest rates. The sooner the eu and our woke gvnmt tell them that we are not their wipping boy the better inmo. Ohhh if only.

That goes without saying. It just depends on how and where it comes from. Hopefully a nice licensing deal will land. Come on U S. Surely you see something here.

For me this is a good long term hold for the following reasons.

Interest rates will eventually fall which will add to the book value of the company.

They are also expanding in a subtle way in terms of a new invest pot backed by hmg. So I would not be surprised if we saw some material incentive,s from hmg in the future.

I think some people have missed the point of the RNs. Too me what it has highlighted is that trials are continuing with a great deal of interest. Which have reached a stage with ongoing commercial payments. This to me reads well as we are nearing possible full scale production. Hopefully funded by the company regularly funding the poc trials.

I think the problem is more to do with Zantac. Sanofies recent settlement hasn't helped at all inmv.

The sooner this is over the better. Delaware is the key here. Hopefully the worst case scenario is now factored into the share price. I.e. Five billion dollar settlement to clear this up.

I just hope that this doesn't turn into another gravy train for the us. Similar to BP and the gulf of Mexico disaster.

If they cannot justify it then fraud must have taken place . If so maybe some us investor could investigate as i am sure they would not take it lying dowm. inmo.Unlike our woke brigade that seems to be running every part of our society now adays. inmv dyor and only if you appear to be over twenty. inmv

I do have a number of questions flexmw. I am also hoping that he will be very open with questions and answers . Especially as he is now standing aside. What i would like to see is a very vocal response to this government and the possible incoming one. I still believe that had the the larger players together with the smaller players been more vocal towards wft the industry would not be where it is now.

If the dividend increases or maintains the level of the past year then that is a bonus, but i cannot imagine the share price responding in a possitive way if that occurs. Unfortunatly i feel that this would be the final year of such dividends. Unless of course epl is scrapped or reduced. inmo.

Maybe others have some views on this. It would also be useful if the departing ceo could somehow post his thoughts going forward on here. After all once he departs he will no longer be restrained by regulatory authorities.

My guess is that the sellers will return with the new tax year. The company could throw a blinder here by issuing some possitive news before this date to maximise any upward movement in the share price.inmo
