Surprised me!

Funny, was just noting that the share price this morning was down at 41.9p and wondering what will it take... and pow!

Wish that happened with my other shares which I look at disappointedly!

Yes fair play. People, incl me, were complaining about a lack of skin in the games, so this begins to answer that one. 55K shares not insignificant.

New CEO or not, we've caught another downdraft. Trading in a range which we can't break out of, seemingly regardless of good news. Feeling a bit frustrated.

I know. Remain unconvinced he's high quality management. I don't much like any of thIs approach to REVB.

Anyway, differing perspectives are a good thing - that's what makes a market, as they say.

Glad you like him, but the question is will he be good for the company, reflected in the share price?

We have our reason why the sp has been in the doldrums of late. As far as I can see, progress is delayed for one more year. Even the divi's gone. All rather disappointing.

Well, there'll be no bid for SYNT at 2.5 times revenue, that is for sure! Nonetheless, take your point about the valuation. And the bond. P.S. Let's not forget the Malaysians, might they still be interested in turning their substantial shareholding into full ownership?

It touched 70p this morning and that seems to have been the trigger for buying. Hopefully that was the bottom... because the extent of this drop has been savage, unexplained and unnerving!

Trading, I didn't know about the past history between them. If they don't like each other and that sentiment continues to hold, then yes, I could view Ashley's purchase more hopefully - a 'hostile' buy or just a simple investment, either of which could be a positive for the sp.

About the free float, perhaps it's useful in certain narrow circumstances, such as eliciting a short squeeze, but generally a large, disparate free float is a protection for PIs and I increasingly look for a good number of shares not in insiders' hands (there is an AIM declaration about this) in the companies I want to buy. Equally (and obviously), you want to see some shares held by insiders, some skin in the game, I guess there's a sweet spot.

I do agree with that lloydboy. Even if no corporate shenanigans transpire, at least he appears to have timed his purchase well. But I would say that as a holder of Boohoo shares.

Of course he's just a shareholder, legally the same as us, but there are shareholders and shareholders (lol) and if he keeps buying shares he becomes a trade buyer with a large holding, which I think puts him in a different category to us. All I'm saying is he's in it for himself and in no way on our side. Sure it might happen that you'll do well riding his coat tails in these situations, but personally I wouldn't bank on it.

My point about the free float being the PI's friend is simply that a large disparate free float makes it almost impossible for insiders and their backers to take it private/delist at prices disadvantageous to us. Ashley is known for doing deals of this sort... I'm not saying it'll happen here (I'd imagine he'd have to buy much more than 5% for starters), but I am saying that past history tells us he's not good news for shareholders in the target company.

Anyway, let's see how it pans out. Quite happy to be proved wrong. With REVB and Ashley, there's already too much excitement around for my tastes and I wish it would all settle down and management stay focussed. Fat chance!

And to those wanting as small a free float as possible in order to squeeze the shorts, remember the smaller the free float the easier it is to stitch us up and take the company private, so be careful what you wish for. The free float can be the PI's friend!

I don't agree with those who think Ashley will be some sort of saviour to the share price. Yes he's a talented retailer and a smart trader of his own (Frasers Group) shares, but he does employ a scattergun approach to his investments in external retailers/brands, which don't all pay off. He looks for a foot in the door in usually badly performing companies and then wait and see what happens. Certainly he's not the PI's friend in these external punts, more likely he'll want to get the enterprise cheap or perform a stitch-up with the founders to take it private, leaving PIs high and dry. Or nothing will develop which is of interest to him and he'll move on.

Sorry, I see his involvement as just another worry for PIs and a distraction for management. The only benefit if he continues to buy more is a short-term spike in the share price, as happened with N Brown and that might be a time to sell a few.

and that is one of the big problems with synthomer that you put your finger on muzmanoz - a revolving door for low quality management with no skin in the game ****ing things up and moving on, replaced by another bunch of low quality management talking a good game but proceeding to add to the bad decisions.

Things must be getting desperate if people want Liz Truss back. Costain were consultants on this (and presumably they got paid for their consultancy advice), not the contractors, so they haven't lost anything.

Anyway, I don't mind Costain holding out for higher margins in a threadbare margin business, just so long as they are able to score some 'juicy' contracts somewhere along the way.

The problem with turnarounds is they are slow and fraught with risk.
